Started the implementation of chips in the hands to make payments

In order to prevent people from taking out their bulky wallets and risk losing them at any time, you can already pay by swiping your hand over the collection device

“The future is now,” says a company that safely implants chips in people's hands so that they can pay for their services without using cash, cards or smartphones. Simply swipe your hand over a reader for a transaction to be processed.

This is Walletmor, a company that has implemented NFC (Near-Field Communication) technology, proximity connection, a system that uses smart devices to make payments at authorized sites. It is currently operating in the United Kingdom, Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Gracia, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Poland, France, Germany, Denmark, among other countries, however, it is required to be a permanent resident in one of these countries.

For several years, the possibility of making purchases without having to take out the wallet has been projected. With the COVID-19 pandemic, this opportunity expanded through QR codes with which secure transactions could be carried out from the mobile phone.

Although for many people paying with applications, QR codes and even smart watches is very advanced, some people think that they are already a thing of the past, and that the future lies in simpler, contactless methods such as hand implants.

In that sense, at least 4 thousand people in the UK have already implemented their payment chip, due to the ease they promise, but also because they claim to be completely safe for the body and against cyber attacks, since “every transaction made with a implant is just as secure as any other transaction made with a bank card.”

The technology used was developed in the 1990s and the implantation of chips has been done in animals for several years. Recently, however, it is being used on a large scale by people to replace bulky purses and wallets.

To start using the chip, which is the size of a lentil, you must download the iCard application on your mobile device and open a digital account that works in the European Union to link it to the implant.

Subsequently, the implant must be activated by entering a unique code. After that, the available bank money will appear on the chip and can be used in establishments that have NFC technology reading as a payment method. To put on one of these chips it is only necessary to make an appointment with a local specialist.

This NFC chip is similar to a computer's hard drive, since it stores and encrypts data, plus it doesn't need to have a battery or charging power. In this case, it collects information related to the bank account, which, supposedly, is impossible to hack.

Although it seems something extraordinary, taken from a science fiction film, it is not such a complicated technology. The chip, as stated, is made with polymers compatible with the organism; they are backed by the experience of implants in animals.

Also, contactless technology has already been used in other devices. All it requires is that there is a short distance between the chip and the receiver of the collection. Payments can be made without the risk of transactions being hacked. In addition, the implant does not violate the basic principles of privacy and does not provide GPS location of the user at any time.
