Insecurity is one of the biggest concerns of people living in Bogotá, a situation that has been getting worse since the covid-19 pandemic hit the country. Recently, the District Mayor's Office announced new measures to address this problem, but citizens have not been very optimistic.
According to figures recently released by local authorities, between January, February and March of this year, at least 18 people were killed amid robberies in the country's capital, according to Blu Radio.
Citizens have repeatedly rejected this type of event where criminals, in addition to taking the belongings of their victims, take their lives.
They kill a young man for stealing his bicycle
In the most recent event, a 26-year-old boy was killed in the town of Teusaquillo by criminals who stripped him of the bicycle on which he was riding. This is Cristian Camilo Sedano, who was with a friend in the sector known as Park Way when he was attacked.
Cristian Camilo Sedano and his friend were intercepted by at least five criminals with the intention of stealing their belongings. In the midst of the robbery, the 26-year-old was shot with a stab, so they had to transfer him to the Palermo Clinic.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel to save his life, the injuries suffered by the young man were of such magnitude that about nine hours after the events he died.
The stab attack that blinded the life of a young man in Bogotá occurred on the night of last Saturday, April 16.
According to information that his relatives have given to the authorities and various media, Cristian Camilo had graduated in Industrial Design at Jorge Tadeo Lozano University and had recently started working as a professional in a multinational company.
This fact, which dismayed the public, led the authorities to delegate a special team from the Sijin Criminal Investigation Directorate to advance investigations into the case. Likewise, a reward of up to 20 million pesos is offered for information to identify, locate and capture those responsible for this event.
