The national leaders of the Acción Nacional (PAN) and Democratic Revolution (PRD) parties, Marko Cortés and Jesús Zambrano, respectively, filed a complaint of gender-based political violence against their candidate for the governorship of Quintana Roo, Laura Fernández.

In a statement, politicians expressed their support and solidarity due to the attacks carried out by Jorge Emilio González Martínez, better known as El Niño Verde, senator of the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM), who had made misogynistic comments against the policy.

In recent days, an audio was released in which González Martínez is supposedly heard reading and commenting on Fernández's farewell when, on January 6, he left Green Ecologist for feeling “persecuted” by his own bench, so he decided to represent other colors.

Women no longer have a fart because they are women. Imagine, you bastard, this thing. Like that, you bastard. There are threats to her and her children, güey. No mama, you bastard, you have to go to jail (...) No, she's a thief, an eyelet. It is very ugly, besides (...) She is a daughter of her f*ta mother”, were the expressions recorded in the alleged audio of the “Green Child.

Therefore, during the presentation of the complaint to the Office of the Prosecutor Specialized in Electoral Crimes, he thanked the support received by both parties and their national leaders. In addition, she said that she is not a woman who will be silenced by anyone.

He pointed out that misogynistic abuses have the objective of her desist from the electoral process in the entity; however, the leader of the PRD-PAN coalition assured that she cared only about people's causes, their well-being and the optimal development of the next electoral process.

“Quintana Roo deserves to have clean and high-profile election campaigns that also interest people and that focus on proposals,” Fernández said.

On the subject, the national president of the PRD demanded to cease political persecution and acts of gender-based violence by the Movement for National Regeneration (Morena) and its allies, since he mentioned that the violence suffered by officials is generated because they do not have same ideals and thoughts as the ruling bloc.

“We call on them to stop this campaign of hate this climate of political confrontation and to take responsibility for everything they are causing, at such a difficult and difficult time for the country. Freely and democratically let the polls speak, let the votes decide on June 5,” Zambrano emphasized.

For his part, Marko Cortés, assured that the coalition will win the victory in the elections that will take place next June, as he has observed the support of the people and the accompaniment it has received from the inhabitants of the state.

Finally, the coordinator of the PRD parliamentary group, Luis E. Cházaro, said that gender-based violence and political violence have reached very dangerous degrees in the country, since they have spurred attacks against members of opposition parties. Therefore, he urged the federal government to put an end to this “hatred” against him.

“We say enough of violence, we call for sanity, harmony and peace, but we make it very clear to Morena and her allies that this way we will not allow ourselves to be intimidated and tried to shut us up,” said the legislator.
