On Thursday afternoon, a Twitter user identified as Jaime Ovalle shared on his profile the video of a new case of theft in Bogotá, this time on Calle 100 with Carrera 19, north of the city.
In the triune, the citizen denounced that “every day” thefts are committed at the traffic lights that are located in this direction. The recording, taken from a building, shows that several men intercept a black vehicle at the middle of the red light; before this, the driver starts to remove the criminals from the car, colliding with the back of the van in front of him.
The criminals then cross the road and get into a Chevrolet Spark vehicle with license plates ZYV978, which flees in the opposite direction. In response to the video, several users mentioned the accounts of the Metropolitan Police and Mayor Claudia López as a sign of rejection of the robbery; and within minutes, the subjects were hit and captured.
The Police themselves announced on their Twitter account that the gray car where the robbers escaped was pursued by a patrol that at 68th Avenue and 17th Street managed to intercept it. In addition, in the triune the institution thanked the community for the support of the community that publicized the case on social networks.

“Thanks to the solidarity of the citizens who recorded the criminal act of some subjects in Usaquén, our uniformed personnel manage to intercept the vehicle involved,” the Police said in the publication where they also attached a photo taken to a security camera.
In addition, the Police invited the citizens affected in this criminal act to report the incident in order to continue the process. In total, three men were arrested; the driver of the vehicle and the two men who were left on video committing the assault.
For his part, the capital's Mobility Secretary, Aníbal Fernández de Soto, confirmed the detention of criminals in the town of Puente Aranda and added that “the appropriate judicial procedures will be taken to hold these criminals accountable for the crimes committed”.
Also, Mayor Claudia López welcomed the timely reaction of the uniformed and also through a triune and added that the subjects arrested in flagrante are already in the hands of the Prosecutor's Office to prosecute them.
Some citizens shared on this same platform the moment when the police detained the subjects and the subsequent trancón that was set up on 68 avenue, west of Bogotá.

It should be noted that recently the Mayor's Office of Bogotá announced new measures to address insecurity at key points; however, not a few citizens have shown little optimism. According to figures released by local authorities, between January, February and March of this year, at least 18 people were killed in the midst of robberies in the country's capital.
In addition, citizens have repeatedly rejected this type of event where criminals, in addition to taking the belongings of their victims, take their lives.
