The Collective Transport System (STC), better known as Metro, will go through a phase of modernization and restructuring throughout 2022. The objective of these tasks will be to provide the capital's residents with a better service and to change some of the facilities that are already in very poor condition.

However, during the initial part of the process, several people who usually use line 1 will be affected. The STC explained that the intervention will begin in the first week of May, but at this stage the work will be carried out at night, so there will be no impact “or the operation or service to users”.

Likewise, it was reported that once the “preparatory operations are completed, there will be a major intervention”, when this happens, the population will be notified again because this stage will entail the closure of the stretch from Pantitlán to Salto del Agua, the stations that will suspend activities are:

-Pantitlan, Zaragoza, Gomez Farías, Puerto Aereo Boulevard, Balbuena, Moctezuma, San Lazaro, Candelaria, Merced, Pino Suarez, Isabel La Católica and Salto del Agua.

This situation alarmed several users, as it is one of the most important and busiest routes of all, as stated by the Government of Mexico City, who also emphasizes that the metro is “the main means of transportation in the City, which aims to provide a massive, safe, reliable and technologically clean”.

However, in order for citizens to continue to be guaranteed quality and safety in their transfers, it will be necessary to suspend the work of this route. The director of the Metro, Guillermo Calderón, said it was a necessary transformation because it has not been properly maintained for 52 years, so it will be essential to “practically completely redo” the line.

If you are one of the people who will be harmed by this situation, then take note because here are some alternatives to move while the capital authorities finish the modification work. It is important to mention that it was announced that there will be RTP service to transfer passengers from Pantitlán to the Observatory, attention will be in both directions, then you can choose this option.

Also, the expansion of line 4 of the Metrobús, which connects the eastern area with the historic center of the capital, began to operate recently. The head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum, reported that with this route it is possible to transport “45 thousand users of public transport along 5.2 kilometers”. This service can be approached from Pantitlán, that way, if you are looking to get to the city center, this will be one of the best options.

On the other hand, there is line 2 (also the Metrobus) that runs from Tepalcates, a station on line A, to places such as Ethiopia, Nuevo León and Tacubaya. This route will take you to the mayors of Iztapalapa, Iztacalco, Cuauhtémoc, Tlalpan and Insurgentes Avenue.

It should not be lost sight of the fact that line 9 (Pantitlán-Tacubaya) could be another route, since it connects with sections of line 4 (Martín Carrera-Santa Anita), 8 (Constitución-Garibaldi), 2 (Taxqueña-Fatro Caminos), 3 (University-Indios Verdes) and 7 (Barranca del Muerto- El Rosario).

In addition, via route 5 (Pantitlán-Polytechnic) you can transfer to line B (Ciudad Azteca-Buenavista), 4 (Martín Carrera-Santa Anita), 3 (University-Indios Verdes) and 6 (Martín Carrera-El Rosario).

Similarly, it was announced that work is being carried out on an emerging transport plan, which aims to improve the roads of the avenues through which the RTP will pass, it was said that traffic light intersections will be “reviewed and improved” and all objects or vehicles that are in prohibited spaces or are unwell removed parked. The parties that will be supervised are:

-Axis 1 South, by Fray Servando Teresa de Mier-Doctor Rio de la Loza-Chapultepec

-Axis 1A South: San Pablo José Ma. Izazaga-Arcos de Belén

Finally, it is worth mentioning that the missing stations are scheduled to close in January 2023: Balderas, Cuauhtémoc, Insurgentes, Seville, Chapultepec, Juanacatlán, Tacubaya and Observatory.
