Daniel Elahi Galán Riveros, current 113 racket of the ATP ranking, celebrated on the night of this Wednesday, April 20, his second consecutive victory in the Tallahaseee 2022 ATP Challenger, in the United States, which earned him access to the quarterfinals in the fight for the title of this competition.
The best Colombian in the international tennis ranking defeated Australian player, Jason Kubler, who ranks 178th in the ATP ranking, in the round of 16 of the competition, after one hour and 42 minutes of the match with two sets of [6-1] and [7-6].
The first set was everything for the Colombian, who won by a resounding 6-1. The santanderean exhibited a great game, which left his ocean opponent without possibilities.
In the second set the game was paired, but Daniel demonstrated all his category to sentence the match in a disputed tiebreak. In the end, he himself couldn't believe the result he had achieved at an airpoint wasted by Kubler. Amid applause and requested by his fans at the end of the match, Daniel ended up exhausted taking pictures and celebrating the ticket to the quarterfinals.
Thanks to this victory, Galán Riveros is among the top eight competitors of the open held in the capital of the state of Florida. He will now have to advance on the road to a new US title against the Japanese, Yosuke Watanuki (ATP # 266), in the match to be played at 9:00 a.m. Colombian time on Friday, April 22.
Galán has already faced Watanuki once, the dispute took place on January 19, 2021, in the qualifying round for the ATP 250 in Mallorca last year, in which the Asian beat the Colombian in three sets: [6-4], [3-6] and [7-5]. The Japanese tennis player comes from beating Chilean Gonzalo Lama 2-0, with partials of [7-6] and [6-0].

It should be remembered that this year Daniel has already won two titles, since last week he won the ATP Challenger of Sarasota, also in Florida, United States, and in January he won the title of the ATP Challenger in Concepción 2022, in Chile.
In the twenty-second edition of the competition, it may be the first time that a Colombian competitor has won this tournament in the men's individual category.
As for the doubles modality, Colombian tennis player Cristian Rodríguez is participating and qualified for the quarterfinals along with his Ecuadorian formula, Diego Hidalgo.
After beating the duo made up of the Americans Reese Stalder and Alex Lawson forcefully, the South Americans are also installed in the top eight round. They will be measured this Thursday, April 21 at 11:20am Colombian time against the Indians Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni.
Located in box 113 of the ATP ranking (the best in his career), Galán is currently the best Colombian in international tennis under the men's individual category, at 25 years old.
Seven consecutive victories from April 12 to date since his debut in Sarasota and now in Tallahassee confirm the great moment he is going through, whose last professional defeat was on April 5 of this year against American Sam Querrey for the first round of the ATP 250 in Houston, Texas.
His stay in the United States has helped him achieve a level that could never be seen before in grand slams or in his participation in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
