Last Monday, April 18, the Colombian Football Federation confirmed the departure of Reinaldo Rueda from the technical management of the senior football team, so he is in the task of looking for the successor of the vallecaucano.

There are several names that make up the list of candidates to take the reins of the Colombia national team, which will be one of the great absentees of the next world cup that will be held in Qatar between November and December.

For his part, Ramón Jesurún, president of the Colombian Football Federation, said a few days ago that there are no specific names and denied rumors relating to already committed coaches such as Ricardo Gareca from Peru and Gustavo Alfaro from Ecuador.

He also stated that the idea is for the national team to have helmsman before the start of the orbital event, since Colombia will very likely face some friendly games with World Cup teams from Europe and Asia.

The only Colombian strategist who somehow has the approval of a sector of the national press such as that of the common citizen is Luis Fernando Suárez, the current coach of Costa Rica.

The Costa Rican national team will play the ticket to the orbital contest on June 14 in Doha, Qatar, when it will be measured against its counterpart from New Zealand, representative of Oceania.

However, during several interviews with Colombian media, Luis Fernando Suárez has stated that his present is Costa Rica and that the idea of directing the Tricolor does not take his sleep away and for now he only thinks about classifying Qatar. He let him know this in dialogue with Red Más Noticias.

In the same way, he made it clear that he is focused on his goal of qualifying his third world cup as a coach where distractions cannot be allowed to take him away from his plans.

On whether he preferred a Colombian or foreign coach, the former Junior of Barranquilla and Atlético Nacional, he said that what should be taken into account most is capacity.

Precisely for Luis Fernando Suárez, Colombian football has become stagnant and an example of this is the ones highlighted at the international level.

To beat New Zealand in the repechage, Costa Rica will be part of Group E in Qatar 2022, made up of Germany, Spain and Japan.
