Regardless of their material with which they were created, design, or even with alleged minting error, dozens of coins of various denominations are offered by a trading platform at stratospheric prices. On this occasion we will present the example of a piece with alleged imperfection.
It will be important to detail that although people can market their copies at the price they prefer, the ideal thing is to go to an expert in the field to learn about the characteristics which must contain and be able to acquire more value, since sometimes there are people who market them at very high costs and are not worth them.
The coin we refer to is part of the 37 commemorative coins that the Banco de México (Banxico) minted as a tribute to the historical events of Mexico's Independence (19) and the Revolution (18), which began circulating from 2008 to 2010.
This is the copy with the image of Francisco Xavier Mina, commemorative of the beginning of Independence and which was put into circulation in 2008, according to data from Banxico.
What is the mistake and how much is it sold?
This piece is sold at a price of up to 30 thousand pesos, according to a person who shared the image on the Mercado Libre site.
The alleged error is presumed in the upper letters of the piece, since according to the user who markets it, the alleged error is because they form a double stroke, that is, the letters are marked twice.
It must be remembered that although according to specialists, one of the elements of coins to increase their value is that it is “a different piece” as is the case with the coin of Francisco Primo de Verdad. However, the prices they handle in these cases are still very high.
The coin boasts on its reverse the effigy of Francisco Xavier Mina, a Spanish liberal who, during his exile in London, was associated with the also exiled Father Servando Teresa de Mier and other supporters of Mexico's independence.
For Mina, the struggle against absolutism represented by Ferdinand VII could take place both in Spain and in its colonies, so and looking for better conditions for her struggle, Mina moved to the New World.
He then arrived in North America in 1816 to prepare his expedition to New Spain and, the following year, he landed in Soto la Marina from where he began an epic military campaign that led him to cross territories in the northeast and center of the viceroyalty; he won resounding victories such as those of the Peotillos Hacienda and El Arrastradero. Mina joined forces with those of the insurgent Pedro Moreno in the forts of Sombrero y los Remedios. After severe and varied clashes with the realistic forces, in which he demonstrated his military virtues, Mina was finally captured in October 1817 and soon after shot.
While on its obverse was depicted the traditional National Shield of the Eagle devouring a snake in sculptural relief and the phrase “United Mexican States”.
Although several copies must contain certain elements, all prices will vary according to their date of issue or the material with which they were made.
In the case of banknotes, the same is true, as experts have stressed that in order to increase their value they would have to have certain characteristics, although sometimes they are difficult to obtain.
One Mexican collector even shared his experience buying banknotes from all over the world. According to his explanation, on some occasions he did struggle to acquire one and the most he has paid is up to 3,500 pesos for one piece.
