For conviction of Luis Alfredo Ramos, Sergio Fajardo raises in criticism of Federico Gutiérrez's campaign

Faced with the Supreme Court's ratification of the parapolitical conviction of Luis Alfredo Ramos, the candidate of the Centro Esperanza coalition, Sergio Fajardo, did not miss the opportunity to send a strong message to his contradictor, Federico Gutiérrez, of the Coalition for Colombia.

Candidate Fajardo's message alluded to the press conference held by 'Fico' on the outskirts of La Picota in Bogotá, when he criticized the visit of Gustavo Petro's brother to those convicted of corruption in that prison.

In addition, Luis Alfredo Ramos appeared with members of the Coalition for Colombia in recent days, a record that was photographed and caused controversy over the antecedent of the conviction of parapolitics.

Precisely, 'Fico' took the opportunity to stand out from Ramos, who in the photograph showed himself before Alejandro Char, one of the members of the program committee of the right-wing campaign.

“He has not been or is in the campaign,” said Gutiérrez, who stressed that the record was captured before the consultations in March. In an interview with La W Radio, the candidate was upset by Fajardo's insistence on criticizing his movements in recent weeks,

“He has been attacking me desperately for a month and a half to see if I come back and put him on the stage of public debate. I've had respect for him. He has to look inside, in his campaign, rather than worry about the others,” said 'Fico' on that station.

Ramos was convicted in October 2021 by the Supreme Court of Justice, in the first instance, for a concert to commit crimes in order to promote illegal armed groups, determining that his political campaigns were supported by the paramilitaries.

According to the high court, in his ruling appealed by Ramos, he received support from the AUC, the Castaño brothers and the Metro Block and the Centauros Block, both politically and in money, in exchange for votes and with the guarantee that he would intercede to prevent the public forces from confronting them.

Thus the campaign has focused on the questionable bishops' meetings of candidates. While since the Historical Pact they denounce an encampment, Gutiérrez has not referred to Char and Ramos who became a trend again this weekend. On the other hand, Sergio Fajardo did take advantage of the controversy to throw pullas at both of them.

“Some agree with prisoners convicted of corruption who are still in prisons and the others with convicts who are free. Not everything is valid in politics, let alone seeking votes from the hands of corrupt people in prisons or clubs. Will they not be able to clearly reject such support? ”, wrote the candidate of the Esperanza Center Coalition with the photo of the meeting of Char and Ramos.

According to the high court, Ramos is responsible for the crime of concert to commit crimes and promotion of paramilitary groups. In addition, the former senator would have received support and support from criminal organizations to reach the Congress of the Republic and to become governor of Antioquia.

Ramos also allowed bands and combos from Medellin to perform and not be pursued by the security forces. In addition, he promoted a meeting in 2005 where he said that he would support the text of the law on justice and peace in order to make it beneficial to paramilitaries.
