English press highlights the return of Yerry Mina: “It provided the security that the team needed so much”

The Colombian started against Leicester and had an outstanding performance on his return after more than two months away.

On February 11, 2022, Yerry Mina started with Everton against Newcastle in a Premier League duel, but unfortunately he couldn't finish the match as he suffered some muscle aches, which prevented him from remaining on the field and was replaced in the 35th minute by Jarrad Branthwaite. A new injury prevented the Colombian from recovering continuity in the 'Toffees'.

The Colombian worked hard on his recovery and after several weeks he was able to return to training with the team and coach Frank Lampard did not hesitate to place him back in the starting eleven that he faced Leicester. The Colombian was part of a line of four in defense accompanied by Godfrey, Coleman and Mykolenko.

“Yerry Mina will appear. He's on campus. Then, it is to make sure that it is fit enough and also to analyze the games that we have left. It's important to have him back. He has a great personality in the locker room and is a great player for us,” said coach Lampard before the match.

Mina saw a yellow card in the 80th minute and in the 90+4′ Richarlison scored the goal of the draw and rescued an important point that allows the club to move away from the relegation zone. They are currently located in box 17 with 29 units.

On the next date Everton will face one of the strongest opponents in the Premier League this season, Liverpool who is led by Jürgen Klopp. Yerry Mina could reunite with his teammate from the Colombia National Team, Luis Díaz, who has been one of the figures in the 'Reds'. This game will take place in Anfield next Sunday, April 24 at 10:30 a.m. (Colombian time).

On the return of Yerry Mina to the pitch, several European media outlets highlighted his participation in the Premier League duel against Leicester and although he did not shine, he was physically strong. It took 77 days for him to play again in an official match.

However, he did some very important challenges to compensate for that as the match progressed, and perhaps he completed the 90 minutes crucially.”

The portal 90 Min from England gave it a rating of 6 out of 10 and assured that, “Back in the team after a long break and quite a day. Strong in the air as expected.” TheHardTackle.com scored the Colombian 6.5 out of 10 and noted that, “Mina played a good game after her return from injury, as the defender proved to be an asset behind. The Colombian was superior in the air, won his duels and provided the much-needed security that had been lacking for much of this season.”
