A new controversy splashes on Gustavo Petro's campaign for the Colombian Presidency. This time, through social networks, it was announced that the Senator for Human Colombia, Gustavo Bolívar, shared a stage with the former mayor of Ovejas, Sucre, Álvaro González, close to former senator Álvaro 'el Gordo' García, condemned for being the mastermind of the Macayepo (Bolívar) massacre in 2000.
Through Twitter, netizens shared a video showing former mayor of Ovejas, Álvaro González Quessep, who has been accused of having ties with the now extinct FARC and being close to Álvaro 'the fat' García, giving a speech during Congressman Bolivar's campaign for the presidency of Gustavo Petro in Sucre, last Wednesday, April 20.
“Today Senator Gustavo Bolívar was in Ovejas Sucre in the company of politician Álvaro González Quessep who belongs to the house of Álvaro 'el Gordo' García responsible for the Macayepo massacre. A few days ago, Petro's brother met with Gordo García in La Picota,” the lawyer and advisor to the Bogotá Council, Daniel Briceño, wrote on his social network, attaching the recording.
In the video, which lasts a little over a minute, former mayor Ovejas said that, although he belonged to the Liberal Party, he remains in his decision to support Gustavo Petro's candidacy for the presidency of Colombia.

Next, González Quessep, who had been captured in 2007 for alleged links with the now extinct FARC, assured that he is now one of the hundreds of citizens fighting for Gustavo Petro to reach the Casa de Nariño.
González Quessep's participation in the electoral campaign event organized by Gustavo Bolivar caused controversy among Colombian political sectors, who not only questioned the current Senator for Human Colombia about the meeting, but also reminded citizens that the former mayor of Ovejas became recognized after he gave a speech in which he defended Álvaro 'the fat' García, who was sentenced by the Supreme Court of Justice to pay 40 years in prison for being the mastermind of the Macayepo massacre in Bolivar, in which 15 peasants were killed.
In the speech, which took place in 2016 during a political event in the public square of the municipality of Ovejas, González Quessep assured that Álvaro 'the fat' García was “a kidnapped person from the state” arrested for a massacre in which he was not linked.

González Quessep's presence at Senator Gustavo Bolivar's event was rejected by hundreds of citizens and politicians, who described the events as a continuation of the so-called “La Picota Pact”.
In this regard, the congressman of Human Colombia defended himself through a trill claiming that he does not know who is attending his meetings. “If corrupt, ex-guerrillas and parapolitical people have approached, in all my speeches, which are public, I tell you that this country is over,” Bolívar said.
So far, neither Gustavo Petro nor other members of his presidential campaign have spoken out about the appearance of the former mayor of Ovejas at the Gustavo Bolivar event in Sucre.
