A printed cardboard image of the mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López, generated a whole controversy among city councilors, students and other citizens interested in debating the Metropolitan Region of Bogotá - Cundinamarca, RMBC, during the morning of this Wednesday, April 21.

It all started because the president stood up those who attended the Palacio de los Deportes facilities to discuss the project that seeks to integrate the municipalities of Cundinamarca with the capital and thus promote a better quality of life for citizens. In his replacement, several members of his district cabinet attended.

In retaliation for the mayor's absence, the councilor of the Democratic Pole, Carlos Carrillo, one of the biggest detractors of the Bogota administration, placed a cardboard figure of Claudia López and, without regret, posted the image on his Twitter account.

The event was attended by leaders from different communities, as well as students, mayors, councillors and other personalities involved in the Bogotá Region project, as is also known to the initiative, who did not hesitate to protest the absence of López.

Although it was hoped that the event would remain a fact of social networks and political sarcasms, the video showed that, after Carrillo put up the mayor's replica, a mayor's official came to her defense and removed the dummy from her boss , which triggered a grip among the assistants.

This is María Mercedes Jaramillo, Secretary of Planning of the Mayor's Office of Bogotá, who was not at all disgraced by the reprimand of Councilor Carrillo and confiscated the figure of Mayor Claudia López.

In the images, which were disseminated on the councilman's social networks, Jaramillo is seen fighting with the militant of the Democratic Pole, who claimed that he was left standing still in representation of the ruler of the Bogotá people.

The discussion generated so much discomfort that the councilman took charge of the 'cardboard mayor' to prevent others from taking away the invention with which he sought to question López. In the filming it is heard that several followers ask the Secretary of Planning to return the doll, who finally agrees and delivers it.

“Put the ruana on it”; “Give it back”, were some of the comments that were heard in the controversial images that have already gone viral on social networks. For now, Mayor Claudia López has not commented on this matter.

It is not the first time that they have used dummys from the burgomaster in some corporation. In October 2021, Claudia López was summoned to a debate on political control in the House of Representatives because of the increased insecurity in the capital. The audience was led by the representative to the House, Juan Carlos Wills, by the Conservative party. Lopez never arrived but sent on his behalf the Secretary of Security, Aníbal Fernández de Soto.

In the absence of the president, the Conservative representative regretted that she had not attended and assured that it is clear that López, supposedly, does not care about the security of the capital. In addition, the representative's criticism went further and assured that the city has “a paper mayor” and that this is “like the 'Chimoltrufia', so, symbolically, he showed a printed figure of the president.
