The Colombian Ministry of Environment reported that between April 27 and 29, BioSinú will be held, the first environmental education and green business fair to be held in Monteria, the capital of the department of Córdoba, which will promote the reactivation of one of the sectors with the greatest projection in the country.
In this meeting, which will be held at the Cultural Square on the banks of the Sinú River, 140 green entrepreneurs will participate and 60 experiences from educational institutions in the department will be exhibited, while a rich academic agenda organized by different universities in this region will be developed.
“The fair has spaces to learn from different formats, we will have the main forum on the opening day, but also panels, workshops, cultural exhibitions, art, music, all focused on carrying the same message: the protection of biodiversity, natural resources, our lives,” said the Minister of Environment, Carlos Eduardo Correa.
Likewise, the head of the portfolio highlighted that BioSinú will be a space for the visibility of school environmental projects in which environmentally friendly initiatives will be promoted, in which different activities will converge such as a business conference, environmental educational experiences, activities such as a commercial exhibition of green businesses and a cultural agenda of this riparian region in the Colombian Caribbean.
Similarly, the Ambiente portfolio highlighted that the academic agenda will be nourished by international and national guests, as well as entrepreneurs, members of the academy and representatives of different unions, who will participate in this meeting that seeks to encourage environmentally friendly businesses that promote practices of sustainability.
“BioSinú is a fair that will articulate environmental education with green enterprises and businesses for the development and economic activation of the region. Different initiatives and businesses that derive from the conservation of natural resources and the use of waste under the circular economy model will be shown”, concluded Minister Carlos Eduardo Correa.
The Colombian Ministry of Environment announced in the middle of the previous year that 184 verified green businesses would be strengthened in the territories where the Territorial Economic Development Programs (PDET) are being implemented, located in the municipalities most affected by the armed conflict and poverty in the country.
This was reported on that occasion by the Deputy Minister for Environmental Policy and Standardization, Francisco Cruz, who assured that the initiative to promote these sustainable and environmentally friendly enterprises will be carried out with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The environment portfolio indicated that in the territories most affected by violence there have been 613 green businesses that have been verified by the entity. These initiatives include projects for the development of traditional backpacks in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta; key rings, earrings and handles based on seeds in the department of Meta.
