The commemoration was held for the 108th anniversary of the Defense of the Port of Veracruz, an event in which the struggle of the Mexican naval and military corps throughout Mexican history was recognized, with special emphasis on the battle that took place on April 21, 1914 against the United States.
In addition to urging citizens not to forget the meaning of Mexican sovereignty, the head of the Federal Executive recalled Russia's recent invasion of Ukraine and used it to reiterate Mexico's contempt for this type of war, mentioning that “we have suffered from several invasions by foreigners.”
