The Aguilas del América scored their fifth consecutive victory after defeating León in the game corresponding to matchday 15 of the Grita Mexico Clausura 2022 with Fernando Ortiz as technical director. With this, the team reached 22 units and placed sixth in the standings, ahead of the so-called 'big four' of Mexican football: Cruz Azul, Chivas and Pumas.

The South American has his first experience leading a group of the highest Mexican category. While he was with the under 20 category, the coach was going through an irregular step in the current Clausura 2022, but in his respective category.
As technical director he has also had the opportunity to lead Club Sportivo Luqueño and twice the Sol de América (2017-2018), both clubs from the first division of Paraguay (during the period in which he was).
Fernando already knows what it is like to belong to the institution of Coapa, because in 2009 he joined the Eagles as a player. A year earlier, Santos Laguna signed Fernando, who came from Estudiantes de la Plata, a team from his native Argentina.
