This Wednesday, April 20, the Atanasio Girardot Stadium in Medellín will be the scene of two important sporting matches of the city's football teams. Against this background, local authorities met to establish the measures that would be taken to ensure the safety of both attendees and citizens who generally mobilize in intermediations on the sports scene.
After the meeting of the 'Table of Safety, Comfort and Coexistence for Football', the authorities established the logistical and accompanying measures for the sporting matches that will be held for the BetPlay Cup, the first at 4:00 p.m. between Deportivo Independiente Medellín and Tigres, and the second, at 8:00 p.m. between Atlético Nacional and Once Caldas.
At the meeting between local authorities, it was established that the Metropolitan Police should allocate at least 1,200 uniformed personnel and three safety rings inside and around the sports arena to ensure safety.
Likewise, the Mayor's Office of Medellín explained that it has planned in detail the entry and evacuation of the fans, to allow fast logistics and for the attendees to enjoy both meetings with the greatest comfort. The whole day will have a Unified Command Post (PMU) at the Atanasio Girardot stadium and the presence of the authorities to coordinate actions in real time.
The municipal administration also stressed that in dialogue with the fans of the two Paisas teams, a day of good behavior was agreed, an ingredient that is essential to avoid any type of clashes or quarrels that end up affecting fans and the general public.
This is how was the schedule for the double date of football in Medellín
Deportivo Independent Medellin vs. Tigres: this meeting will be at 4:00pm and the stadium will open one hour earlier, that is, at 3:00pm. The Mayor's Office of Medellín suggested that people traveling by Metro get off at Floresta Station and enter through the filters of 74 Avenue - Obelisco sector.
Likewise, the authorities established that only the North and West stands will be opened for this party. In addition, it was reported that immediately the match ends, fans will have to leave the stadium.
Atletico Nacional vs. Once Caldas: The match will start at 8:00 p.m. so the doors will open from 7:00 p.m.
Unlike the previous match, this will open the four grandstands and fans are recommended to travel by Metro to get off at the Estadio station. “Popular bars will only be able to wear their forehead and 40 strips,” established the Mayor's Office of Medellin.
