After having participated in the film CODA, which received the Oscar for Best Film, Eugenio Derbez (Dora and the Lost City) returns this time with a romantic comedy. This is The Valet (The Valet Parking) starring the Mexican actor in the role of Antonio, a friendly valet parking worker; Samara Weaving (Nine perfect strangers) as Olivia and Max Greenfield (New Girl) in the role of Vincent Royce.

The Valet, produced by Ben Odell and Derbez himself, will hit the Star+ platform on Friday, May 20 and will tell the story of Olivia, an internationally famous film star who must face public opinion when a paparazzi takes a picture of him with Vincent, his lover, who is married to Kathryn (Betsy Brandt). There Antonio comes into action, the valet who by chance appears in the same photo of the lovers. Olivia's press agents hire him to pretend to be the girl's boyfriend, and that's how it works as a perfect alibi for the actress. But Antonio's simple and peaceful life will take a 180-degree turn when he begins to be the center of attention of the media and magazines of the heart.

The Valet is a romantic comedy full of misunderstandings in which two worlds with totally opposite cultures are exposed. However, this will result in Olivia and Antonio getting to know each other more deeply while playing at being a couple.

Directed by Richard Wong (Whenever You Want) and written by Rob Greenberg (Man Overboard! ) and Bob Fisher, this film is a remake of another French film, made by Francis Veber and released in 2006 with the same name in the United States and Latin America as The Idiots Game. In the original version, the plot took as its starting point the mega-millionaire businessman Pierre Levasseur (Daniel Auteuil), married to a major shareholder of his company (Kristin Scott Thomas). In this case, Pierre is photographed with a model (Virginie Ledoyen) and in the background comes out the valet parking, François Pignon (Gad Elmaleh). Pierre's task will be to convince his wife that his alleged lover only François's partner.

The rest of the cast of this new version is composed of Betsy Brandt (Breaking Bad), Carmen Salinas Lozano (We the Handsome), Amaury Nolasco (Hightown), Marisol Nichols (Spiral: The Fear Game Continues), Diany Rodríguez (Between Heaven and Earth), Tiana Okoye ( Hairspray Live! ), John Pirrucello (Barry), Ravi Patel (Beanie 2.0), Noemi Gonzalez (The Tax Collector) and Puerto Rican singer Lunay.

“What struck me most about The Valet is how much my family looked like Antonio's, and telling his story was like telling mine. It is a message of unity, about seeing each other and about human connection. Something that would be good for the world right now,” Wong reflected.
