The Mexican Chamber of Mining said that the reform of the Mining Law would affect the development of more than 690 mining communities, in addition to the fact that the restriction on the use of minerals is a “sign of uncertainty” for the mining industry in Mexico.

Similarly, Camimex indicated that the bill to reform the law would divert investments of more than $24.2 billion dollars (mdd), and therefore recommended collaboration between the private and public sectors for the extraction and supply of minerals for the Mexican population.

In this regard, Camimex commented that to boost the mining sector in Mexico, channels of communication and cooperation between companies and the government need to be established, since a public policy that encourages mining could contribute to the generation of more than 350,000 new formal jobs.
