After being consecrated on the stage of the Coachella Festival 2022, La Banda MS, had the opportunity to talk during their return to Mexico and some projects for the future, such as their approach with Grupo Firme for a collaboration; they also delved into why, at the moment, they could not present one of their most greatest hits.

It was during its presentation at the International Horse Fair Texcoco, where the Mexican group approached with the cameras of the morning of Imagen Televisión, Sale el Sol, they addressed the legal dispute over the rights of their success launched in 2012, My reason for being, in which they are immersed in their composer, Horacio Palencia.

The only thing that has affected is that we had to remove it from the show, all the people who ask us for the song of My reason for being at events, we cannot play it for legal reasons. Because this person unfortunately injustice voted in favor of him, what was done was unfair [...] Something is very strange there,” said Walo Silvas and Alan Ramírez, members of the Sinaloa group.

For both members of the successful group, the legal process in which their collaborator, Horacio Palencia, is involved, is unfair and where Sergio Lizárraga, director of La Banda MS. was also involved, was also related.

“There justice also has to play a role, knowing that Horacio Palencia has an infinite number of songs, which have the whole label of the song, 'My reason for being, 'and there is a background where we know that he is the composer,” they argued before the cameras of the morning Sale el Sol.

My reason for being, a song that they recorded in 2012 and which gave its name to their seventh studio album, was in the midst of the controversy following the complaint by the Guanajuato composer José Luis Calderón Águila against the 39-year-old Sinaloan composer Horacio Palencia for copyright.

It was last Wednesday, March 9, 2022, when the Attorney General's Office (FGR) linked singer-songwriter Horacio Palencia to federal criminal proceedings for alleged plagiarism of this subject. And, although there is still no official resolution, the FGR itself ruled in favor of José Luis Calderón, so it is very likely that the band created by Sergio Lizárraga will have to compensate the Guanajuato composer.

In a last edition of the evening, De Primera, they had the opportunity to present the final resolution by the FGR, in which they acknowledge that Horacio Palencia plagiarized the song to José Luis Calderón Águila.

With this link, the authorship of the work in favor of Guanajuato José Luis Calderón Águila is recognized. The FGR will continue investigations against Eduardo Palencia Cisneros (Horacio's brother), José Ramiro Palencia Vargas (Horacio's father) and against Sergio Lizárraga, director of the Band MS. All of them for benefiting financially from the unauthorized exploitation of the famous song”, can be read in the statement set out in the program hosted by Gustavo Adolfo Infante.

To end their speech with Grupo Imagen's morning, the two members of the band confirmed that during their participation in the Coachella Festival they had a close contact with Eduin Caz and Grupo Firme to finalize details on a possible collaboration in the coming months.

If there have been approaches, look, they haven't materialized, but there have been talks. Now that we were at Coachella, we had to greet them and live with them and that's it, hopefully it could be done”, concluded Walo Silvas and Alan Ramírez in Sale El Sol.
