“The covid leadership is still there”: Iván Mejia attacks Fedefútbol

Faced with the uncertainty of knowing who will succeed Reinaldo Rueda in the Colombia national team, the sports journalist criticized the FCF's lack of planning and the failure to qualify for Qatar 2022

After learning that coach Reinaldo Rueda and his coaching staff were disassociated from the Colombian Football Federation (FCF) on Monday, April 18, speculation began as to who should be the next name in charge of the national team.

However, parallel to the unknown who will succeed Rueda Rivera, the renowned sports journalist Iván Mejía Álvarez lashed out against the board of Fedefútbol for his terrible efforts in the last decade.

The vallecaucano communicator did not keep a single comment against the management carried out by the president of the FCF, Ramón Jesurún, after the Barranquilla director's press conference was held in which he explained the plan to follow after he had not even been able to qualify for the quarterfinals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Ever since Jesurún succeeded detainee Luis Bedoya in the presidency of Fedefútbol, Mejía Álvarez has been one of the main critics of the recent leadership model of Colombian football professionalism from the administrative sphere of the same.

This criticism intensified after Colombia lost the chance of playing a new World Cup in its direct match against Peru in Barranquilla.

In this regard, Ivan spoke from his Twitter account on the afternoon of this Tuesday, April 19 to briefly explain the reason for the failure that prevented the coffee team from qualifying for their third consecutive world cup in the era after that of José Néstor Pékerman (2012 - 2018).

Mejía was direct and accurate in asserting that the present of the Colombian men's senior team is uncertain and that the future of the leadership is another obstacle in the goal of achieving the objectives. This is how he referred to the critical situation of Fedefútbol in terms of sports results:

Mejía made the simile of a virus that exists inside the federation with the addresses of Ramón Jesurún and the president of the Difútbol, Álvaro González Alzate. In addition, he drew attention to the failure that there is in the generational relay in order to qualify for the World Cup in Canada, the United States and Mexico 2026, since there is no process of forming lower divisions and without the desired planning it is impossible to obtain a title.

At the moment it is unknown who will be Colombia's new coach and Ramón Jesurún himself took on the task of dismissing Argentina's Marcelo Bielsa as some preference or even an approach to hire Rueda's successor. The president wanted to avoid speculation because the decision of who will be in charge of the Colombia national team will not be made in the near future, but possibly after the end of the 2022 Qatar World Cup:
