Surveys on WhatsApp: this would be the image of the Meta tool

Little by little, the messaging app, WhatsApp, is closing the gap with one of its great rivals: Telegram. And it's because the Meta-owned app will have the ability to create surveys directly in the app without using third-party apps or websites to achieve this.

An add-on that has proven to be very useful to its users, especially in groups.

The truth is that this absence is something that could not be well understood, since we are not talking about something particularly complicated to implement. WaBetaInfo, the website specializing in the latest WhatsApp news, has released two screenshots taken from the WhatsApp beta for iOS, version 22.0.0.70, where you can see how to create a WhatsApp poll, as well as also the interface of it.

Surveys are still in development, so there may be changes when they come out (if any), but with what you have so far, users can already get an idea of the next new feature of WhatsApp.

Thanks to this app tool, users can ask their friends about the best hotel to stay in a tourist spot, or choose a movie to go to the movies as a group.

What would the process for creating surveys be like on WhatsApp

Considering possible changes, as everything is under development, you can see the model in which the tool will be deployed. An example as a first step would be to establish the question you want to ask, because it could not be otherwise.

Once this is done, different answers can be configured that the rest of the members can choose if they want any of the proposed options. Later, you will be able to see the screenshot showing that there are a maximum of 5 options to choose from.

Additions, such as image tagging and setting survey activity intervals, are generally allowed. And, the latter, quite relevant, because it allows the desired result not to last forever.

So you can see in the screenshot of WaBetaInfo, this feature allows users to create surveys from the application itself to send to groups. You can put a text with questions and then different options. Even if there are 5 options in the photo, it is not known if there is a limit or if you can set as many options as you want.

Surveys will be of great help to make decisions as a group without filling the conversation with messages. For example, they can be used to decide a meeting place or to confirm who will (and who is not) going to a certain event.

It's much more convenient than creating a Doodle or doing a 'copy and paste message' where each name is written under a specific option. WaBetaInfo indicates that once the option has been marked and voted, the decision will be shared with the rest of the participants, although it is not clear whether it is possible to verify who voted for in each option.

WhatsApp will prioritize user safety

This will be achieved thanks to some things pointed out by the aforementioned source: surveys are end-to-end encrypted according to what is provided by default in the messaging application.

As a result, people outside the group from which the question was generated will not be able to see anything, nor will they have to worry about cybercriminals.
