Morena's campaign to showcase the 223 deputies who rejected the Electricity Reform continues to be talked about. It was now two candidates for presidential candidates from that party who spoke out on Wednesday.
The head of government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, is in favor of exposing the identity of each of the legislators who voted against the initiative promoted by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, as she described them as “traitors to the homeland.” He said so at a press conference:
In this regard, he assured that they only strengthened transnational corporations in the face of “national sovereignty”.
Finally, he congratulated the “nationalist” deputies and senators on the approval of the Mining Law where lithium is considered a strategic mineral, whose exploitation can only be done by a parastatal company.
For his part, Ricardo Monreal, Morena's coordinator in the Senate, expressed his disagreement with the campaign in an interview, warning that it is not appropriate to deepen hatred or anger by labeling the opposition as “traitors”.
He pointed out that in a Parliament there are differences and they do not have to all vote in the same direction, so he asked the leadership to act with serenity and prudence since other parties are needed to pass constitutional reforms.
“They don't leave me much way out, because they tell me themselves. But how do you ask me to do that if I only receive this kind of offense? , that is, it is a fundamental issue, which is what is causing me difficulties in the construction of qualified majorities,” he added.
