On Tuesday afternoon, Deputy María Josefina Gamboa Torales of the National Action Party (PAN) reported being the victim of an assault caused by political disputes.
Through a video she posted on her official Twitter account, the deputy said she was the victim of a robbery by two men who were transported in other vehicles. She claimed that they followed her and her partner as she left the Fiesta Americana hotel and intercepted them when the deputy and her husband were changing tires.
However, this altercation was established as part of the maneuvers against the opposition deputies who voted against the Electricity Reform, as they stole documents from the legislator. And he assured that this event came “from the rancor that Morena National Regeneration Movement (Morena) sows daily against the opposition.”
The events occurred in the Cuauhtémoc mayor's office in Mexico City, so the controversial mayor of that demarcation, Sandra Cuevas, came forward and through a message indicated that she was accompanying the case.
But he also indicated that this aggression occurred “strangely a few days after voting against the Electricity Reform.”
“Unfortunately, he just suffered a robbery here in Reforma, in the Cuauhtémoc mayor's office” and “we find it very strange how they just assaulted, violated our fellow deputy.”
“These are the consequences of polarizing the country,” said the mayor after the testimony of the PAN deputy, agreeing with the statements of the Gamboa about the polarization and violence generated, according to the Veracruz one by the ruling party.
“Those are the consequences of generating hatred, those are the consequences of incorrectly disseminating the photographs of legislators simply because they do not think the same as the President of the Republic,” the mayor wrote.
Hours later, Gamboa uploaded several images and a comment in which he indicated that in response to the complaint, the Attorney General's Office of Mexico City (FGJCDMX), the investigation revealed that it was a premeditated act because they had placed a device on his tire to deflate it and reach it.
According to what the panista said, a subject followed the vehicle in which she was transporting with her husband, but they had to stop because the tire had little air.
At that moment, one of the drivers following them stopped by their side to ask for directions. Meanwhile, another alleged perpetrator took the opportunity to steal the belongings and personal documents that the victims had inside the van.
The deputy during the vote of the Electricity Reform in the Chamber of Deputies, called the legislators of the Morena party as a “recue of thieves”, which caused a stir due to a tragic event that the deputy starred in.
In 2014, the legislator ran over a cyclist who died from the impact. Gamboa was driving his Nissan Sentra vehicle while intoxicated.
For that fact, she was sentenced to one year, three months and nine days in prison for aggravated wrongful death, as well as payment of a compensatory sum. At the time, he pointed out that the process against him was part of a vengeance by the then governor of the state, Javier Duarte.
