The fortunes managed by footballers who compete in the first level of football sometimes go towards different investments. Within the fields that elite athletes have immersed themselves in recent times, the world of cryptocurrencies is one of the most selected. But if we focus on the Paris Saint-Germain squad with Neymar at the head, the non-fungible tokens (NFTs) had their explosion and the flow of money towards this business opportunity is greater.
After buying two non-fungible tokens from Bored Ape Yacht Club earlier this year, in an investment of almost six million reais (over $1 million), Neymar proved that he is genuinely interested in the NFT world and again attacked the non-fungible token market. Last Tuesday, April 19, the Brazilian bought an item from the Mutant Ape Yach Club (MAYC) collection for almost 800 thousand reais. According to the page Rarity Tools, the number 1,757 is the rarest in the entire collection and was acquired by the PSG player for 55 ETH: Ethereum is currently priced at 3,100 US dollars, which means that the digital item cost just over 170 thousand of the same currency.
In addition to the recent big investment, Neymar has also shown his appreciation for NFTs even in the locker room. Recently, the player was photographed wearing personalized clothing with one of his BAYC tokens and the collection logo, and even wore different outfits with the same theme, even on his birthday and in a nice photo with a fan and Lionel Messi. As if that were not enough, she also adopted one of the tokens as her profile picture on social media.
The interesting thing is that Neymar has made the various purchases of NFT in partnership with two teammates, Argentine Leandro Paredes and Italian Marco Verratti. However, the only one who adopted the cute figure of the boring monkey as a profile picture on his various social media accounts was the former Santos.
The NFT market has grown a lot since 2021, attracting several celebrities to the cryptocurrency universe. Expensive collections, such as monkeys or CryptoPunks, also serve as a kind of passport for an exclusive group of celebrities and wealthy people in general, as well as offering benefits to their owners, such as access to luxury gatherings, parties and events.
