The Fantastic Twins will have a live-action version on an original tape for the HBO Max. Who will be your interpreters? A new report confirmed that KJ Apa (Riverdale) and Isabel May (1883) will bring the DC Comics comic brothers to life in the production that enlists the filmmaker Adam Sztykiel, the screenwriter of Black Adam, which will hit theaters in October this year.
These characters, also known as Wonder Twins, made their comic book debut in 1977 and reached great popularity when that same year they appeared in the classic animated series Super Friends. Both played the role of young companions of more experienced superheroes such as Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. Later, his story expanded until it was integrated into the narrative of the universe of graphic novels and more products of the publisher.
The names that identified these heroes are Zan and Jayna, and their powers were originally activated every time they collided their fists and expressed a sentence. She can take the form of any animal (even, prehistoric ones), while he has the ability to turn into water. But they are not alone in their adventures, as they usually have the company of their beloved pet, a space monkey named Gleek.
The Fantastic Twins film project joins the most recent productions in the DC Extended Universe such as The Batman (released on HBO Max this month), and the upcoming ones to watch such as DC Super Pet League, Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the gods. Another original film that will soon land on the platform is Batgirl, starring Grace Leslie.
Who are the stars of the Fantastic Twins?
KJ Apa is a 24-year-old New Zealand actor who rose to fame for playing Kane Jenkins on Shortland Street and Archie Andrews on the popular youth series Riverdale. From 2017 to date, he has joined the main cast of the latter in the role of the famous Archie Comics character, although the universe is designed from a much darker perspective to tell the stories of this group of teenagers. Currently, the mystery and suspense drama has six seasons.
Isabel May is a 21-year-old American actress who has appeared in the series Alexa & Katie, Young Sheldon and the film Run Hide Fight. However, her most critically acclaimed role is that of Elsa Dutton, the protagonist and narrator of 1883, the miniseries that served as a prequel to Yellowstone (from the universe created by Taylor Sheridan).
For the first time at DCEU, the Fantastic Twins will appear to join other faces that have led the franchise in recent years. Apa and May will take them to the world of flesh and blood in this film prepared by HBO Max. The shoot does not yet have a start date, so it is unknown in what approximate year we could see it on the streaming service.
