For the construction of sidewalks and bicycle routes, there are closures on the south side on 116th Street, in the north of Bogotá

The Ministry of Mobility reported that due to the construction of the sidewalks and cycle routes on 116th Street between the 9th and the North Highway, and between the North Highway and Boyacá Avenue, the platform located on the South side of 116th Street between races 14 and 14A will be closed and the South lane of this same road will be closed. These works will cause 24-hour closures and will end on July 7

“With this closure, it will be possible to advance the transfer and adaptation activities of the dry and wet networks that are part of this work. These activities will end on July 7, 2022, with 24-hour closing hours,” said the Ministry of Mobility.

The objective, according to the entity, is that by the end of the work, citizens will have a new public space for better mobility of pedestrians and cyclists, with 50,152 m2 of platforms, 3.87 km of bicycle routes and 8,390 m2 of green areas

The Secretariat explained that the mobility management of this area will be handled as follows:

Pedestrian management

The pedestrian path will be enabled on the roadway adjacent to the closure

Transit of private vehicles

Users who travel in the West - East direction on Avenida Calle 116, will continue to travel along the lane that will be enabled on the roadway

Integrated Public Transport System (Sitp) routes

The Sitp buses will not affect their route.

It also gives some recommendations among which to walk along the platforms and pedestrian trails, as well as to make crossings at the corners and places destined for this purpose.

In addition, it is recommended that all users in the sector take this information into account and follow the signs with caution so that they can make their usual routes without any problems. As for drivers, the entity stressed that it advises moving with caution and abiding by the signage provided in the area of influence of the Traffic Management Plan.

It is noteworthy that other works are being carried out in the city, so there are several closed roads such as the closure of a lane in the direction of West - East of Villavicencio Avenue with Avenida Ciudad de Cali, which are being carried out in order to continue the activities of transferring the parent network and installing the rain collector within the framework of the transfer of networks of the Bogotá Aqueduct and Sewerage Company (EAB) for the works of the first line of the Bogotá Metro. These will take place for two months with 24-hour closing hours.

In this case, the transit of private vehicles, Mobility reported that “users who travel in the South-North direction on the 89B race and wish to take the av. Villavicencio to the Oriente, may take the 49th south to the east street - 85A to the north - 46th street south to the east - av. agoberto mejía to the south - 47B south to the east - race 79 to the east North, where it joins with its usual route”.

He added that “users who travel in the South-North direction along the 89B race and wish to take Villavicencio Avenue to the Oriente and Av. Ciudad de Cali to the North, will be able to take Calle 49 South to the Oriente — Av. Ciudad de Cali to the North where it joins the usual route.”
