The director who has his own group of fans and they have managed to get his version of Justice League out, is now preparing his new sci-fi and fantasy film called Rebel Moon. It will be an original Netflix production like Zack Snyder's last two films: Army of the Dead as director and Army of Thieves as screenwriter. Now it's time for a new one based on a project rejected by Lucasfilm.
Snyder announced the start of filming Rebel Moon with a publication titled “Day 1″. It's three behind-the-scenes photos. In them, you can see the landing platform of a ship from one of the sides of history. You can see it from the inside and from the outside. But the most powerful photograph was that of Djimon Hounsou as General Titus.
The story of its origin is related to Star Wars. Zack Snyder is a fan of the saga created by George Lucas and wrote a script that followed the story where The Return of the Jedi, Episode VI of the saga, had left it. He presented it to Lucasfilm before Disney bought the company in 2012 and it didn't materialize. The spin-off proposed and thought by Snyder followed the story of new Jedi warriors embarking on a dangerous mission.
Rebel Moon is that film, but no longer related to a galaxy far away, but to an original story that had to be transformed to stay alive. The Netflix film will follow, as the production commented, the story of a colony in the far reaches of space that is suddenly attacked by the armies of dictator Belisarius. Kora becomes the colony's emissary to seek help from nearby planets in order to defend herself from the invasion.
Sofia Boutella will star in the film, but the cast is quite large and well-known: Carey Elwes, Corey Stoll, Rupert Friend, Stuart Martin, Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Ray Fisher, Doona Bae, Jane Malone, Charlotte Maggi, Sky Hang, Staz Nair and E.Duffy. This could be a saga, in principle in two parts.
About Zack Snyder's love for Star Wars, this is a fragment he shared at the time to express his love for the saga and the progress of the project: “This is me, having grown up as a fan of Akira Kurosawa and a fan of Star Wars. It's my love of science fiction and a giant adventure. I hope it will become a massive IP and a universe on which we can build. I've spent the last two or three years building this universe. I have been making designs, drawing constantly, and farming in this fertile land to see this world completely finished.”
The film could be released in November of this year on Netflix.
