“Fat has a solution, but the thug?” : Marbelle gave Roy Barreras stick

The popular music singer attacked the senator, who was criticized because of his recent statements about the weight of a journalist during a debate in a media outlet

The controversy aroused after this Monday the senator elected by the Historical Pact, Roy Barreras, pointed out journalist Jairo Lozano for his physical condition during a debate with María Fernanda Cabal, congressman of the Democratic Center, on the program Vicky en Semana.

The facts arose when the communicator consulted Barreras regarding the so-called “social pardon”, which had presidential candidate Gustavo Petro in the 'eye of the hurricane' in recent days. Faced with that question, the congressman replied: “First, I greet you. You have gained weight, take care of yourself a little, because being overweight can cause heart attacks and if that adds to rabies.”

Faced with these words, the Lozano spoke again: “I take care of myself, I take good care of myself. And I also take care of the words of people who send hints every single thing. Keep that in mind. I take care of myself every day.” Barreras insisted that his comments were part of a “medical recommendation” and asked him to be “calm.”

Barreras's statements went viral and, unsurprisingly, criticized him from multiple social and political sectors. The popular music singer Marbelle was one of the personalities to speak out about what happened, because, although she did not name it directly, she used qualifiers such as “hampón”.

Just a couple of minutes later, Marbelle again lashed out at Barreras comparing him to “Mr. Magoo”, the traditional cartoon character. “Let one call one fat Mister Magoo... naaaaah! You don't have to stop balls,” he added.

In recent weeks, Marbelle has been trending on social media for its constant strikes against the Historical Pact, especially directed at Gustavo Petro and Francia Márquez, the presidential and vice-presidential formula of this political coalition.

The 42-year-old singer, for example, published a trill a few days ago in which she compared Petro's term of “social forgiveness” with a proposal that Marquez had made to her to make peace between the two. “Social forgiveness is like an ancestral embrace,” he said on his Twitter account. In addition, the actress was accused of being racist and xenophobic by referring to the activist as 'King Kong'.

Marbelle, who has Petro's nickname 'el poop', did not accept Marquez's comment in response to a reconciliation between the two, and assured that she was returning the 'ancestral embrace' he was giving him back. “YOU DON'T GIVE ME CONFIDENCE OR REPRESENT ME IN ANY WAY... don't give me the cheap speech with which you want to deceive people!” , he sentenced at that time.

Recently, Barreras spoke on digital platforms regarding the visit of Gustavo Petro's brother, Juan Fernando, to La Picota prison in Bogotá. According to the congressman, this was a “screw-up”, because he argues that other political sectors took sides. “No doubt Juan Fernando Petro's blunder hurt the campaign because the people of 'Fico' took advantage of it, the parapolitics who are imprisoned are all uribists,” he said.

Likewise, the senator asked Petro's brother to apologize for what happened, in a video he shared on his Twitter: “It's not fair to millions of Colombians with the illusion of change. With respect, humility, but also with emphasis, I ask Mr. Juan Fernando Petro, whom I don't know, to ask forgiveness, for social forgiveness, the campaign, the leaders of the Covenant and Colombians who are excited about change.”
