Great news received Colombian boxer Óscar Rivas, who in October 2021 was crowned world weight champion Bridger of the World Boxing Council, after defeating Canadian Ryan Rozicki in 12 rounds by unanimous decision. You will now have the chance to defend the title in home condition.

On August 13 in the city of Cali, the Colombian champion will face Polish boxer Lukasz Rozanski, who holds 12 online knockouts in the ring. It should be recalled that initially, 'Kaboom' would defend the title in October of this year as Mauricio Suleimán, president of the World Boxing Council, expressed at the time.

The place where the fight will take place will be at the legendary Pascual Guerrero stadium, which this time will not vibrate because of the songs of the fans of America in Cali, but will serve to welcome boxing fans in the country.

It is worth remembering that the Buenos Aires is the first Colombian boxer in history to become champion of the Bridger peso, and he hopes to continue making history to leave the country's name high, as he has done so far.

The Bridger weight is a new division of this sport discipline created by the World Boxing Commission together with other organizations that govern the sport. The category ranges from 201 to 224 pounds and aims to prevent the marked difference in weight in fights.

For his part, Mauricio Suleimán stressed during an interview with the Izquierdazo portal that they have great expectations with the creation of this new division in boxing.

The name of this division was given the honor of the six-year-old American boy Bridger Walker, who in 2020 saved his sister as young as four from being attacked by a stray dog and suffered several injuries to his face for which he received 90 stitches.
