After confirming the departure of Reinaldo Rueda from the Colombia Seniors team, the president of the Colombian Football Federation, Ramón Jesurún, spoke for the first time after the elimination of the coffee team from the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

First, the leader of the federation clarified that the disengagement of the Vallecaucano was by mutual agreement and everything was on good terms. He also stated that Rueda's contract was subject to qualification for the world cup, which was not achieved.

On the other hand, he distorted rumors about the alleged approaches with coaches already committed to other selected coaches such as Argentines Ricardo Gareca from Peru and Gustavo Alfaro from Ecuador.

Similarly, he made it clear that at the moment they have not had contact with any technician, although he accepted that they have received several calls from businessmen offering names of leaders to take the vacancy left by Reinaldo Rueda in the coffee team.

However, Ramón Jesurún referred to the possibility of Arturo Reyes, who was in charge of the Colombia team in four friendly matches after José Néstor Pekerman left the post in 2018, to reach the Tricolor bench.

On the other hand, Ramón Jesurún commented that it is very possible that Colombia will face friendly commitments with other teams, since they have received offers to measure themselves against European and Asian teams respectively.

For this reason, he hopes that for these meetings the Tricolor will already have defined the strategist who will assume these preparation matches from the bench.

Arturo Reyes' last experience as a coach was with the Barranquilla Junior in 2021, which he reached after Amaranto Perea's departure and led a total of 23 matches with a record of nine wins, ten draws and four losses.

Despite not winning the title with the Tiburón, Reyes hoped to continue in the red and white awnings but the Junior's directors decided to bet on Argentina's Juan Cruz Real for 2022.

At the time, the former coach of Unión Magdalena was surprised by the decision to cease him from his duties in the Barranquilla squad in dialogue with the newspaper El Heraldo.

Arturo Reyes was in charge of the Colombia U20 team between 2017 and 2021 when he managed to qualify the national team to the world championship in the category that took place in Poland in 2019, reaching the quarterfinals, where he fell to Ukraine, which ultimately became champion.
