Barranquilla was on alert in the last few hours because of the escape of a group of prisoners from a prison center, although the authorities have tried to strengthen the security aspect in the city, this problem persists. The incident occurred in the Las Estrellas Transitional Center, located in the southwest of the Atlantic capital, the authorities managed to capture some of the prisoners, however, investigations are continuing to determine the details of what happened and recapture the prisoners who are still wandering after the escape.

As was able to establish the newspaper El Heraldo, the authorities indicated that six prisoners were able to leave the prison, according to the community, this was running in flip-flops through the streets around the Transitional Center, in the same way, the action group of the Public Force began the search work that allowed to find the capture of three subjects so far, however, the search is extended to be able to capture the remaining evaders. Those recaptured were brought to justice so that their future could be determined.

Likewise, the community informed Blu Radio that the incident would have been recorded around 5 in the morning, as several beatings were heard in the streets of this area, the residents realized that these rumblings were probably coming from the Transitional Center and watched the scene, describing the scandal as if they were whipping cans, this was confirmed when they showed that from one of the walls the prisoners were jumping, who had left the roof of the place.

There are still questions, as the residents of the sector point out that the bustle was strong, so they wonder if the guards heard these movements. However, it is presumed that the whole thing was a mutiny that failed to be controlled and resulted in the escape of the apprehended who were on the scene. As soon as it became known of the escape, the Mobile Anti-Riot Squadron (ESMAD) and the Police mobilized to the scene to attend to the situation and listen to the testimonies of witnesses, in turn, the head of the Office of Security and Citizen Coexistence of the Mayor's Office of Barranquilla, Nelson Patron, explained that an investigation will be carried out that will allow determine the responsibilities for this controversial fact.

The Las Estrellas Transitional Center is configured as one of the efforts of the local administration and the authorities to reduce the rate of overcrowding in the city, since it has been one of the main problems given that prisons are coped with the high level of crime. This place was handed over at the beginning of this year, with a capacity of 210 prisoners that will gradually be expanded to 420 places. Similarly, according to the Ministry of Justice, El Bosque prison will also have a significant increase in its capacity, according to the newspaper El Universal.

Although Mayor Jaime Pumarejo welcomed the infrastructure action in favor of justice, the residents of the Las Estrellas neighborhood have complained about the location of this property, pointing out that, on the contrary, the place could become a hotbed of crime and complaints by the community. In addition, they have shown their concern that a school is located in front of this site, a situation that alerts parents to the integrity of their children.

It should be noted that this is not the first similar event recorded in this prison, since at the beginning of the month several prisoners started a fire inside the place in protest against the conditions provided.
