Last Sunday, April 17, the discussion on the Electricity Reform of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador was held at the Legislative Palace of San Lázaro. However, after more than 11 hours of sitting in the Chamber of Deputies, the initiative of the president of Mexico did not reach a qualified majority, as the opposition had warned.

With a vote of 275 in favor, 223 against and 0 abstentions, the project that sought to strengthen the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) was scrapped, this gave different opposition members a reason to celebrate the decision, so through social networks they expressed their joy at having curbed one of the most important projects controversies by Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Vicente Fox, former president of Mexico, joined the celebration of the braking of the Electric Reform and, through his official Twitter account, issued various messages thanking the opposition for their commitment to prevent the president's initiative from prospering, however, a confusion between the flags of Mexico and Senegal ended for making it the mockery of social media and, of course, the memes were not long in coming.

Through messages on social networks, Vicente Fox acknowledged that democracy in the country was revitalized thanks to the Electricity Reform, as well as that opposition parties were created and an independent legislature and empowered citizenship were promoted. In the same way, he thanked God for having listened to his prayers and assured that we must continue fighting to make Andrés Manuel López Obrador aware of the serious mistakes you are making.

Thank God I hear our prayers. We have to keep fighting and let the pendejet* realize the big mistakes he is making. THANK YOU and many to the DEPUTIES!! THANKS to the reborn Political Party THANKS to you ordinary citizen, you did it!!” , the former president posted on his official Twitter account.

It is no secret that Vicente Fox has become one of the most important opponents of Andrés Manuel López Obrador and his administration, so in addition to celebrating that he does not the Electric Reform advanced, the former PAN president once again lashed out against the Tabasco president.

“An act of treason against Mexico': AMLO is going on the opposition for 'overthrowing' electricity reform 'YA CALLATE CHACHALACA',” Vicente Fox said on his Twitter account.

He also acknowledged that the vote on the Electricity Reform in the Chamber of Deputies revealed that there are real opposition leaders in Mexico which, according to the former president, have the strength and power to prepare and develop towards the 2024 elections.

However, by the time he issued these messages, social media users had begun to mock the peculiar mistake he made in celebrating the victory of the opposition with the flag of Senegal, rather than that of Mexico.

After an extensive session starring dimes and diretes, the Chamber of Deputies ended up scrapping the Electric Reform promoted by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), his party, Moreno Nacional Regeneration (Morena) and allies.

Despite the attempts of the Tabasqueño to “seduce” his opponents - and thereby obtain the necessary suffrages to reach the qualified majority - the detractor bloc fulfilled its mission and with 223 votes against it reversed the initiative dubbed the “Bartlett Law”. This victory was celebrated by opposition legislators and legislators who, likewise, were recognized by the respective leaders of the Va por México alliance.
