They captured the “Skinny” of the CJNG: he is considered highly dangerous

Erick “N”, alias El Flaco, is considered one of the main generators of violence in the Papaloapan Basin region, Oaxaca; however, his capture went unnoticed.

This Monday, the man aged just 24, was arrested in the community of Tuxtepec (bordering Veracruz), noted for being a member of the most powerful criminal organization in the country: the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG).

According to the Oaxaca Ministry of Public Security, the man was secured along with a 9-millimeter pistol; four magazines and 52 cartridges of the same caliber.

El Flaco is considered highly dangerous by state authorities, it could be related to the violent events in San Miguel Soyaltepec, as well as to the armed incursion into the facilities of the municipality of San José Independencia. He is charged with extortion, kidnapping and homicide.

Days before the capture of El Flaco, authorities managed to arrest two more members of the cartel in Acatlán de Pérez Figueroa, for alleged violation of the Federal Weapons and Explosives Act.

Erick “N” would be part of the cell headed by El Pino, son of former PRI MP, Gustavo Díaz Sánchez, and which would have its base of operations on the borders of Oaxaca and Veracruz.

Gustavo Abigail Díaz alias el Pino was captured on March 31 for the execution of journalist Julio Valdiva of the newspaper El Mundo de Córdoba, in 2021.

Valdivia Rodríguez covered the red note fountain and collaborated as a Tezonapa correspondent. Reports indicated that he had already reported threats. He became the twenty-fifth journalist killed in the state until eight years earlier.

His remains were abandoned near railroad tracks between the communities of Paraíso and Motzorongo. The motorcycle with which he was transporting for work was found near his body.

Currently, PRI legislator Díaz Sánchez is also in prison for carrying firearms for the exclusive use of the Army and for allegedly being linked to organized crime.
