A video showing the moment of the explosion in the Narvarte colony due to gas accumulation goes through social networks.
At first, the 39-second recording echoed the rumble that was heard at the time of the explosion, while the images showed how part of the building's façade collapsed.
Then, after a brief silence, the first cries and cries for help were heard after the stupor. “Help”, “Please”, “Help”, you hear a woman say in the background.
In its latest report, the mayor's office Benito Juárez reported that at noon this Wednesday, March 19, revisions by Civil Protection continued in the departmental building where an explosion occurred on Monday night.
According to reports, this incident would have caused four people, not yet identified, to be injured. Two of them were transferred to the Metropolitan Hospital, confirmed Santiago Taboada Cortina, mayor of this capital's territory, who also stated that there are no structural failures.
Operational staff of the Secretariat for Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection reported on this explosion that occurred in Monte Alban street in the Narvarte Poniente neighborhood. In coordination with the Ministry of Citizen Security (SSC), the area has been delimited as a preventive measure.
So far, the reason for this accumulation of gas is unknown. The capital authorities only announced that it affected the roof of the building, built with metal structure and sheets.
Subsequently, the head of government of CDMX, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, reported that the head of the SGIRPC, Myriam Vilma Urzúa Venegas, arrived at the scene after 22:30 hours. In addition, he explained that the injured have injuries without serious injuries, although they continue with medical evaluation.
The official announced her arrival at the site and said, from social networks: “We are working in close coordination with the authorities of the Mayor's Office. We call on the inhabitants of the area to avoid approaching the place and allow emergency care vehicles to pass through.”
Almost an hour after the explosion was confirmed, SGIRPC mentioned that personnel from the Heroic Fire Department began work on the removal of the structure affected by the explosion, as part of the risk mitigation actions.
Around 10:40 p.m., Santiago Taboada issued a preliminary report in which he detailed that the situation is completely controlled, only masonry elements were damaged, so actions began to remove them.
