Nor are religious days a refuge for the inhabitants of Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, where alleged hit men of the Northeast Cartel were caught throwing eggs last Easter Sunday.
Through social networks, the hit men were shown aboard cargo vans, carrying long guns and throwing eggs at drivers who were in a gas station.
The border town of Nuevo Laredo is one of the main strongholds of the Northeast Cartel, which last March suffered one of its worst blows with the arrest of its leader, Juan Gerardo Treviño Morales, alias El Huevo. According to sources consulted by this media, people are very afraid of the internal war that may be generated to gain control of the criminal organization.
Nuevo Laredo is experiencing one of its worst security crises. On April 8, on one of the roads that goes from Monterrey to Nuevo Laredo, the young Debanhi Escobar was reported missing.
The municipality of Reynosa, north of Tamaulipas, has been another of the areas most affected by the arrest of the Egg. There have been several allegations reported from criminal groups.
But Tamaulipas is not the only entity that is experiencing the increase in violence due to the arrest of the head of the CDN. In San Luis Potosí, The Capture of the Egg has been read — especially by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) — as a sign of weakness.
In the state of Potosino, governed by Ricardo Gallardo Cardona — linked to organized crime — disputes settled this week. In the early morning of April 5, federal forces were ambushed by an armed command on the Querétaro-San Luis Potosí highway.
According to reports, the alleged hit men arrived in the area aboard three vans: a gray Lincoln, a black pick up and a Pontiac Torrent. The scene recreated by the elements warns that the gunmen parked the van on the side of the road and started shooting. Official information indicates that an officer lost his life.
A few hours earlier, panic had broken out in Tamazunchale, where the arrival of a commando was reported to travel through the main streets of the municipality.
Regarding the facts, the governor of the entity explained that they were men who only passed through the region, but that their destination was Hidalgo and Veracruz.
The next day, Tamazunchale looked deserted, with businesses and schools closed as a result of a psychosis unleashed by two executions that occurred days earlier.
In 2020, violence skyrocketed in San Luis Potosi. That year, on October 5, 13 dead bodies were located on a highway that goes to the neighboring state of Zacatecas. The bodies were left in a vehicle with a drug message that warned that this would happen to all the jaliscas.
Just two days later, in Vanegas, nine shrunken, tied and tortured corpses provoked terror.
The presence of five criminal organizations has been identified in San Luis Potosí (in north-central Mexico): the Gulf Cartel, the Northeast Cartel, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, the Gulf Cartel, the Taliban and the San Luis New Generation Cartel.
