Senator-elect, brother of Musa Besaile, would have diverted a river for his own benefit

John Moises Besaile Fayad, known as “Jhony”, brother of former senator convicted of the “Toga Cartel” scandal Musa Besaile; is accused of diverting a river for the benefit of his lands. It should be noted that since 2020, he has been investigated by the Supreme Court of Justice for ideological falsehood in an aggravated public document, this because allegedly in 2012, while he was secretary of the interior of the governorate of Córdoba, in the administration of Alejandro Lyons, he favored the contracting of scientific agreements and technology, which were financed with funds from the General Royalty System.

The complaint made by Caracol Radio indicates that the Attorney General's Office delivered a technical report to the Prosecutor's Office in 2020, which would show that today's senator, of the Union for the People's Party, or Party of the U, with the second highest vote of his movement, of the last elections, 132,798 votes; the San Jorge River would have intervened at the Santo Domingo estate, owned by it, in the district of Los Cayitos, in the municipality of Caimito in the department of Sucre.

The finding made by the Corporation for the Sustainable Development of La Mojana and San Jorge, CORPOMOJANA, would have developed a report with the Office of the Attorney General, where it would evidence the filling of an area of the river, in order to divert it, in addition to burning the vegetation layer, thus generating an imbalance of the ecosystem, polluting the waters. These lands are now destined for grazing.

In addition, the intervention would not have been only in one section, in total there would be 3, one of them almost a kilometer long, which accelerated the drying of the Oscurio and Oscurito swamps. The complaint filed by the radio station would indicate that since March 23, 2020, this investigation would be held by the Attorney General's Office, which, in addition to being shared with the Prosecutor's Office, was delegated to the Supreme Court of Justice.

The authorities had ordered a sanctioning process to be carried out, to determine the value of the damage caused, and to rebuild the topography of the area. But none of these measures proved effective, since none of the sanctions were referred to the senator.

The congressman absolutely denied all the charges against him, in fact, he assured that they could go and search the area, to verify that these works were not done; in addition, that the drying is for the particular interests of farmers and fishermen in the area.

However, in addition to investigations of alleged environmental crimes, the Constitutional Court investigates him for the above-mentioned diversion of monies. However, another diligence arises there, since an attempt is being made to determine whether the resources that he allegedly handed over to the beneficiary company were then directed and distributed between him and another of his relatives.

It should be noted that his brother Musa Besaile, investigated by parapolitics and the “Toga Cartel”, is deprived of liberty for the crimes of concert to commit crime and bribery. The first thing for associating with paramilitary structures in order to reach the House of Representatives and the second to be paid so that the criminal proceedings being carried out by the Supreme Court would go in their favor.

This is in addition to the crime of embezzlement by appropriation, for receiving bribes from contracts awarded by the government of Córdoba. In fact, Alejandro Lyons, who was the governor of this department, is serving a five-year prison sentence for irregular management of resources during his administration.
