Climate change will come very strongly this season, especially in Metropolitan Lima, as there will be an increase in cold winds this Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st with speeds much higher than the usual average, This was announced by the Meteorological Forecasting specialists of the National Meteorology and Hydrology Service of Peru (Senamhi).
In response to this news, meteorologist David Garay, indicated that in those days the winds coming from the South Pacific will increase and when approaching our coast they will manifest themselves cold and fast, affecting the temperature.
“The winds coming from Antarctica are cold winds, so they cool the environment, and they will have a speed of 33 km/h on average. Tonight, Lima registers 9.7 km/h, for example, and they will even cause dust and sand uplift in Ica and Pisco,” he told the Andina agency.
“The feeling of cold in the capital will also increase due to the presence of Kelvin waves in the Peruvian sea, especially in the districts surrounding the sea; this will translate into fog in the early hours of the morning in the capital,” he added.
The specialist also assured that all these changes are part of autumn, a transit station whose main characteristic is to be quite variable and difficult to predict. Regarding the temperatures, he said that on Wednesday and Thursday they will be around 15° in West Lima, and 14° in East Lima.
“The difference is due to the thermoregulation generated by the sea. The farther away the districts of the coastal zone are, the contrasts of temperature values will increase,” he said.
