With the phrase “take care of your means of authentication”, the Tax Administration Service (SAT) alerted taxpayers about password or e-signature theft during the filing of the 2021 annual tax return. Faced with this, he also announced what to do in case of filing in a similar case.
According to the tax authorities, during the last two weeks there have been a considerable number of complaints and complaints about the use of passwords or electronic signatures (e.signatures), which have been used by third parties during tax returns.
Thus, it was detected that some individuals engage in fraud when filing the return and in order to obtain a balance in favor of income tax (ISR) with the registration of bank accounts other than those of taxpayers who act as holders of the authentication means, opened mainly by BBVA Bancomer, Banco Afirme and Banco Azteca.
It should be remembered that the annual tax return must be issued by individuals during this month. The deadline for this procedure is 30 April, as announced by the SAT.
What to do in case of a similar situation?
According to the tax authority, three main points must be followed, which are:
1.- The interested party must submit their complaint by telephone at the following number: 55 88 52 22 22. From abroad the number is +52 55 88 52 22.
Another way to carry out the complaint process is through the SAT portal.
2.- The taxpayer may generate or renew their password on the procedures and services portal. The same process will apply for the renewal of the electronic signature.
3.- Another way to prevent it will be by filing the supplementary declaration 48 hours after the first one has been issued. With this, the tax authority will be more likely to stop the transfer of the refund to the unknown account, since once the instruction is sent to the bank, the transfer is irreversible.
It must be remembered that the declaration must be submitted by some natural persons or else they will become creditors to future problems, as well as a series of fines that are later difficult to pay in the first instance.
The people who must submit it are:
*Those who received income other than their normal salary.
*Those who worked with one or two employers simultaneously.
*If the total annual income exceeds 400 thousand pesos.
*If they received compensation or retirement income.
*Those who work on their own, that is, professional services or issue invoices for fees.
*Business activities: those who are taxed under the tax incorporation regime and chose to make provisional payments.
*Business activities carried out through technological, computer or similar platforms.
*Those who charge rent for some real estate, that is, apartment, house or commercial premises.
The benefit of the annual return is that some people will be able to request a balance in favor. This happens when calculating your taxes, as it turns out that you paid more than you owed, so you must ask the tax authorities to return the extra amount.
