The authorities of the region have also warned the population that the intensity of the shelling has increased in recent hours and strongly encouraged citizens to stay in their shelters.

The attacks on Kharkiv, where nine more fatalities were reported on Monday, take place while Kiev confirmed last night the start of the great Russian offensive on the east of the country, with the intention of controlling the entire Donbas. It is estimated that the front stretches for 480 kilometers.

In parallel, the siege of Mariupol, the strategic city in the south of the country, continues, where Russian troops have repeatedly urged surrender to the last resistant Ukrainian soldiers, barricaded in the Azovstal steel works with an unknown number of civilians.
