The national and local authorities held an extraordinary security council, in the governorate of Arauca, where a reward plan, of up to 100 million pesos, was announced to people who provide information to capture those responsible for the massacre of four people in the village of Las Nubes, rural area by Tame.

Through a video, the representatives of Arauca, from the San Antonio de Tame hospital, rejected the facts and demanded that the Public Prosecutor's Office together with the public forces carry out the lifting of the bodies. Since almost 12 hours passed without the authorities arriving at the scene, to carry out the respective proceedings of the case.

The Office of the Attorney General of the Nation commented on the events that occurred last Sunday, April 17, in a statement that the entity became aware of the facts through a telephone call, which allowed the care of the injured people, who were taken to the hospitals in Tame and Saravena. They say that “appropriate actions were taken to initiate the respective investigations in a timely manner. The absence of a helicopter of its own to carry out this type of movement prevented the immediate arrival at the scene of the incident”; this prevented the early arrival of the authorities at the scene.

This, in addition to the public order situation in the department, made it impossible to move the Technical Investigation Corps, CTI, and the Criminal Investigation Section, SIJIN. Therefore, support was sought from the 18th Brigade and the 8th Division of the National Army, together with the Police, to ensure the security of the judicial authorities.

The delay was so long that the relatives decided to recover the bodies of their loved ones on their own and take them to a local funeral home. According to press release 272 issued by the Prosecutor's Office, the entity claims that it asked the victims' relatives patience to carry out the respective judicial proceedings, but that they refused. In addition, since yesterday at 6 pm, the day after the massacre, they arrived to advance the inspection of the scene.

The governor of Arauca, Indira Luz Barrios, asked the authorities to help increase the force foot in the rural areas of the department. “We recognize the work of the authorities, but we ask that security arrangements be sharpened especially in rural areas of the department. From the sectional administration, we offer this reward with the intention of finding those responsible for this deplorable event.”

The command of the Quiron Task Force points out that preliminarily, the attack was perpetrated while several people were mobilizing in a van, which was “indiscriminately attacked” by armed subjects who “identified themselves as members of the FARC dissidents.” So far, the deaths of 4-year-old Briangis Yelina Prada and 9-year-old Delvis Arbey have died; along with 48-year-old Angel Julián Estrada and 51-year-old Elison Portela.

So far, no more details are known than agreed in the security council, but crimes continue to be reported precisely in the municipality. Bogota Councillor Heidy Sánchez Barreto, for the Patriotic Union, denounced the murder of community leader Wilmer Hernández, who was kidnapped and a few hours ago his body was found dead.
