Monica Noguera revealed that Alejandro Marcovich has cancer

The former Caifanes guitarist had to be operated on because of a brain tumor in 2010, shortly before the group's reunion

Alejandro Marcovich, a former member of Caifanes, would have prostate cancer, according to Mónica Noguera on the afternoon of April 19.

During the broadcast of the program De Primera Mano, Mónica Noguera announced that the editorial staff of Imagen Televisión received information about Alejandro Marcovich's delicate state of health, so they sent him his best wishes.

“We want to extend our sincere solidarity and support to the former guitarist of the Caifanes group, Alejandro Marcovich, because information came to the editorial office about his state of health. The musician is fighting against prostate cancer, so we hope with all our heart that he will emerge victorious from this tough battle. Alejandro, our heart with you”

So far, the musician has not confirmed that this information is true, but some of his fans have expressed support through social networks.

This is not the first time that Alejandro has had health problems, because in 2010 it was revealed that he had a brain tumor. In June of that year, it was reported that the musician had been hospitalized for several days at the National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery in Mexico City.

At the hospital he underwent different neurological studies for surgery on July 23, 2010. The guitarist was optimistic, assuring that the best doctors were treating him. The operation was successful and Alejandro returned to his activities.

Through social networks he shared that this surgery meant marked him, which is why two years ago he celebrated that the procedure had the best results.

“Today marked 10 years since my brain surgery. I can't be happier. Every day, every hour, every minute, every second and every breath is a miracle to be grateful for. I am,” Marcovich wrote on Instagram.

When Alejandro announced that he had a tumor in his brain, rumors began about a possible reunion of Caifanes, this after the band disbanded due to various problems. It was announced that after the other members of the group were informed about the guitarist's health, they would have decided to meet again to celebrate their artistic career as Caifanes.

Marcovich was part of Caifanes from 1989 to 1995, when it became known that due to friction between the guitarist and Saul Hernandez, Alejandro had decided to leave the band.

This would not have been the first time that this happened within the group, because before Caifanes existed, the band The Unusual Images of Aurora due to their differences.

It was until 2011 that Caifanes reunited on the stage of Vive Latino, but soon it was reported that they would continue with their original members, that is, without Marcovich.

In different interviews and on social networks, the guitarist has stated that Caifanes broke up because of Hernandez. “Caifanes was destroyed by SH and his manager, stop tales”, was one of the tweets that Alejandro wrote on his Twitter account in 2021 when some users blamed him for having been the one who caused the conflict.

He also went on to point out that despite the fact that among the five members they had created Caifanes, currently only Saul is the one who enjoys the profits of the group. He also stated in interviews that for a while there was a campaign against him based on manipulation of information that reached his fans.

Only last September 17 did Juan Carlos Novello, also a guitarist from Caifanes, die. Although the reasons for his death were not disclosed, it transpired that he would have been battling cancer.
