Mauricio Leal's half-brother who is in prison would keep the objects from the stylist's house in La Calera

It has been about five months since Mauricio Leal and his mother, Marleny Hernandez, were killed in their home located in La Calera. Over the course of weeks, his brother, Jhonier Leal, became one of the suspects by the authorities, until finally on January 19 he decided to accept the charges of double homicide. Since then he has been deprived of his liberty in the bunker of the Attorney General's Office.

According to investigations by the relevant authorities in the case, one of the reasons Jhonier Leal would have had for committing the crime was the envy he felt for his brother, who was one of the most renowned stylists in Colombia. His intention was to keep Mauricio Leal's fortune that exceeds 5 billion pesos and even forced him to sign a letter that remained at the scene.

After the death of Mauricio Leal and the confession of Jhonier Leal, the question that arises is who will take Mauricio Leal's fortune. Carlos Andrés García, the stylist's half-brother who is in prison in Jamundí for sexual abuse with a minor under 14, has referred to what happened with his mother and half-brother, requested to be recognized as one of the victims during the ongoing process against Jhonier and now he could keep the belongings of the house where Mauricio Leal lived with his mother and brother in La Calera.

The Special Assets Company (SAE) raises a lease fee close to 9 million pesos for the three-storey site located in the Arboreto Bosque Residencial complex. Lamps, utensils, furniture, mirrors and other luxurious and expensive objects are presenting an inconvenience for renting the property.

It is for this reason that Carlos Andrés García would be in charge of receiving these objects, since according to the SAE and according to the law, he would be the real beneficiary of all these expensive objects, owned by his half-brother, Mauricio Leal. Revista Semana revealed some details of the document where they determine the reasons why they would seek to deliver these belongings as soon as possible.

“It is important to mention that since the date of delivery of the property to this entity, that is, for almost three (03) months, several pieces of furniture and furniture have remained inside the property, thus preventing the proper administration of the property and consequently the administrative function of this Company, for this reason it is necessary to carry out the hand over those belongings as soon as possible”, highlights the document that was revealed by Semana.

According to this document, several people and relatives of Mauricio Leal and Marleny Hernández came forward to claim these objects, however, each party stated that they felt they had the legitimate right to these items, so the SAE asked that they agree to be able to make the delivery, however, this did not happen. They point out that since there was no agreement between the people, some documents were verified and Carlos Andrés García demonstrated the blood link.

“Establishing then that those who demonstrated the consanguineous link with the deceased are Carlos Andrés García Hernández and Jhonier Rodolfo Leal Hernández, as sons and brothers of the deceased, in accordance with the succession orders of our legal system (...) before whom the delivery of the objects the reason for the claim”, states the document.
