As supposed, the representative to the House for the Green Alliance, Katherine Miranda announced, on the morning of this Tuesday, April 19, that she is joining the campaign of the presidential candidate of the Historical Pact, Gustavo Petro.

Miranda, who was the most voted elected representative in Bogotá in the last legislative elections with more than 118,000 votes, also said she will serve on Petro's team as one of its debate coordinators. This position will be shared with Alfonso Prada, the holder of that position in the candidacy of the leader of Human Colombia.

The announcement by the congresswoman of the sunflower party came in a video on her Twitter account, where she assured that, although she did not want to tell the country who she would vote for in the first round, the current situation led her to tell her electoral interests.

In other parts of the video with which he made the announcement, the candidate Petro appeared, very smiling. The images show them when they were colleagues in Congress and promoted several projects against the national government, since both are active members of the opposition to President Iván Duque, who will leave power next August.

“It was us who fought corruption,” Miranda said.

The candidate for the Historical Pact thanked his new head of debate and said that together they will make possible the change that Petro wants for the country. “Thank you Katherine, for your support and that of your electorate. I know that with you we are going to change Colombia for life,” said the candidate, who is currently leading the polls for the intention to vote for the presidency.

In other parts of the video, Petro showed the gift that Katherine Miranda's daughter gave her: a drawing showing the senator along with her vice-presidential formula, the lawyer and social leader, Francia Márquez, who was the third most voted pre-candidate in the interparty consultations last March.

She is not the only representative of the Green Alliance awnings to join Petro. Figures such as Camilo Romero, León Freddy Muñoz, among others, have announced support for the head of Human Colombia in his third attempt to reach the Casa de Nariño as president.

Moreover, at the beginning of this month the “Greens with Petro”, as the militants of that collective who support the candidate call themselves, held a massive event where formalized their support for the presidential formula of the Historical Pact.

Carlos Ramón González, co-president of the Alianza Verde party, was the one who represented the militants who wanted to support Petro in the leadership, in order to finally establish freedom of choice. “What is clear is that we must defeat the Uribista right that today embodies the candidate Federico Gutiérrez,” said the director of the collective.

Among the green supports, Petro has several current senators, but who failed to renew their seats for the next four-year period such as Jorge Guevara, Jorge Eduardo Londoño, Sandra Ortiz or León Fredy Muñoz. The only one so far is Inti Asprilla, fourth most voted, who from the beginning supported the progressive aspirant. They are joined by elected representatives Santiago Marín (from Caldas) and Martha Alfonso (in Tolima).

Several councillors, councilors and deputies participated as Diego Cancino (Bogotá councillor), Oswaldo Avellaneda (deputy for Meta), Michael Ramos (deputy for Meta), Alejandro Saldarriaga (Antioquia), Oswaldo Córdoba (Bolivar), Esmeralda Hernandez, Mafe Carrascal, María Isabel Moreno (councillor of Cali), among other councilors, councilors and deputies of the country and former candidates for Congress.
