Support for this system will be $32,556,178,000 in order to reduce the inequities reported in different parts of the country.

“The guidelines contribute to the national objective of reducing inequities, by providing coverage in VTE promotion and prevention actions for the population at risk,” said Iván Mauricio Cárdenas, Deputy Director of Communicable Diseases at MinSalud.

The official pointed out that both the resolution and the guidelines are governance mechanisms of the national program for the promotion, prevention and control of VTE and zoonoses. In addition, he said that the Government portfolio will continue the process of articulation with the zoonosis program, establishing among its priorities the implementation of its integrated management strategy and advancing the elimination of human rabies in the urban cycle.

On the other hand, the official stressed that considering that VTE accounts for more than 17% of all infectious diseases and cause one million deaths annually worldwide, specifically in Colombia, malaria, dengue, Chagas disease and leishmaniasis are persistent endemo-epidemic conditions. “These are presented in urban and rural transmission scenarios with the following characteristics per event.”
