
The National Army reported on the capture of the political leader of the Gulf Clan and two other members of the Gulf Clan. This is alias Omega or Samuel, who was also in charge of coordinating extortion and other crimes against businessmen in southwestern Antioquia.
According to the information provided by the authorities, the capture was carried out in the middle of an operation that the security forces carried out against the criminal structure.
The operation was carried out in La Encarnación village located in Urrao, Antioquia. There, three people were captured, in addition to 'Omega', the authorities announced the arrest of a woman identified as alias La Mona and another subject known as 'Tutunendo'.
According to information provided by the authorities, these people were responsible for frightening businessmen in the area. The criminals, under the command of alias Samuel or Omega, extorted money from avocado producers, ranchers and traders in southwestern Antioquia.
General Diaz also reported that the three persons captured had more than 100 pamphlets containing messages from that criminal group, as well as accounting notebooks, books of indoctrination practices and an operations journal.
Other coups against the Gulf Clan announced in recent days
On April 17, the authorities announced the capture of Fausto Emilio Palacios Arteaga, alias Miura or Maldito Patrik, head of the 'Manuel José Gaitán' substructure of the Gulf Clan that would operate in Sucre.
Authorities detailed that the Colombian Navy, the Colombian Air Force and the National Police participated in the operation. The uniformed men reached the Pajonalito village, attached to San Onofre (Sucre), where they carried out the capture. In addition to apprehending the man, he was seized a pistol, 13 cartridges, a supplier, a notebook with information about the Gulf Clan and two cell phones.
Likewise, in previous days Minister Diego Molano assured that two members of this criminal structure were discharged from this criminal structure in El Bagre, Antioquia.
“Ongoing offensive against Gulf Clan strongholds. @FuerzasMilCol and @policiacolombia neutralized two of their members, who were seized war material with which they frightened the inhabitants of El Bagre, Antioquia #ConTodasNuestrasFuerzas we protect Colombians,” Minister Diego Molano reported on his Twitter account in recent days.
According to preliminary information, the two subjects who were killed by the Colombian public forces would be members of the Uldar Cardona Rueda substructure, which among its area of influence has the municipality located in Bajo Cauca in Antioquia.
