In the last few hours, through his social networks, Senator Ariel Ávila announced that during the next month - before the first-round presidential elections are held - he will be leading an 'AntiFICO' campaign and supporting one of the presidential candidates who would be, according to him, the best option to beat Federico Gutierrez.
In the midst of the political campaign leading up to the presidential elections, many Colombians are on the lookout for the proposals that each candidate presents in order to decide who to support on May 29. Often, not only does the political inclination or ideas of the candidates matter, voters also pay attention to who is adhering to their campaigns and what important figures support them to justify their vote.
Ariel Ávila has been an important analyst and political researcher, and is currently serving as Senator of the Republic for the Green Alliance party. Through a video posted on his social media profiles, the man announced that he has already decided which candidate he will support for the first round of the presidential elections and, although he has not revealed what that politician will be for now, he pointed out that he will be promoting an 'AntiFICO' campaign.
“Along with some of my formulas to the chamber, we have made a decision for this first presidential round, after much discussion,” the senator anticipated and said that he will soon announce the politician. But he insisted that he hopes citizens will join the 'AntiFICO' campaign “to show Colombia the true face of Federico Gutiérrez.”
According to the senator, he hopes that no matter who he decides to support in the elections, people who support candidates such as Gustavo Petro, Sergio Fajardo and Rodolfo Hernández will join his campaign against Fico.
In his video, the political analyst highlighted that along with their formulas they are part of an alternative movement, which is why, accordingly, they will support an alternative project in the first round and, in the same way, the one that goes to the second round. He stressed that for this reason, his decision is between Gustavo Petro and Sergio Fajardo, supporting one of them in the elections on May 29 and whoever passes to the election days on June 19.
Although the official announcement will be made on Thursday, March 21, it is already confirmed that the candidate Ariel Ávila will support is Sergio Fajardo and, in addition, he will be the head of the debate, this because several media outlets pointed out this and the senator shared that information. According to Caracol News, nine of the 13 senators of the Green Alliance arrived in the campaign of the former mayor of Medellín, a movement that was part of the campaign of Centro Esperanza, a coalition under which Fajardo was chosen.
For their part, in the RCN news program, they said that Avila will not only express its support for candidate Sergio Fajardo, but that he will reach the campaign as head of debate.
“Keep in mind that our enemy to be defeated is that old corrupt political class that today gathers around Federico Gutiérrez. This is a collective decision, several of my camera formulas are also part of the decision that will be announced in a few hours,” concluded the senator.
Among those who will join in supporting Sergio Fajardo is House Representative Catherine Juvinao, who shared the video of the political analyst. “I adhere to this message of my formula, today's Senator Ariel Avila, and of whom I am proud to be a team,” he wrote.
