“Yummi Li” appeared, model of Only Fans and cosplayer reported missing

The Mexican Alliance of Sex Workers (AMETS) announced that Mayra Guadalupe Mata, better known as “Yummi Li”, was located after close people lost contact with her since March 22.

Through its Twitter account, the civil society organization assured that the young woman is in good condition and also thanked the people who supported the dissemination of information to locate her. The tweet briefly notes: “Yummi has already appeared, he is well, we thank you for your support in his search.”

The news elicited positive reactions from users who were happy about the news, but also negative comments from Internet users who disqualified the model for being held incommunicado for so long and who, in addition, asked AMETS for more details about where she was and what she was doing while her loved ones, supported by civil society, were looking for it. Some also demanded that the organization be more careful and report only women who are truly missing.

In this regard, several Twitter users defended Yummi Li and said that the important thing is that he is okay. One user tweeted “It's okay; it's enough for me and it's enough for us; if she doesn't want to be in the middle, it's her decision and she respects herself”, referring to the closure of the model's social networks, days before her trace was lost. Others also pointed out that she does not need to make statements about the reasons why she stayed away and left comments such as: “It will always be a relief if a girl with a missing report appears. For whatever reasons they want, he will literally have his whole life to explain to you what happened but he is already home.”

It is worth mentioning that, when her disappearance was announced, a friend of Mayra's claimed that the young woman was depressed by her father's death. In this regard, some pointed out that the authorities should not have been alerted, since it was obvious that the model had moved away from the public eye and its close circle due to her depression. Thus, in the latest publication that AMETS has made regarding this case, you can read a response that says: “From the first moment it was known that she was depressed until she closed her Instagram. I think his dad passed away, it was obvious that he moved away from the toxic world of networks.”

Yummi Li shared content on Only Fans until March 28, when it was his last connection. He is one of the thousands of content creators who upload photos and videos to the platform, which grew exponentially during the lockdown, in the last fiscal year it raised profits of $416 million and gave profits of $28 million to the majority shareholder. In Mexico, after the government announced social distancing measures, the total number of unique visitors per month on this social network doubled, according to statistics from Comscore.

Only Fans, a platform that has existed since 2016, offers users the possibility to access exclusive content by paying fees set by the creators. Much of what is uploaded is erotic in nature, so it has generated divided opinions between those who think it is about the democratization of pornography and those who consider it a new form of sexual exploitation.
