This will be the new E-14 form for the presidential elections in Colombia

In order to avoid repeating what happened in the March elections, the juries of 5,109 tables in which the errors that put the Registrar's Office in the midst of the controversy were made will be changed in their entirety

The countdown to the holding of Colombia's presidential elections is increasingly shrinking. The National Registry of Civil Status, in the end, showed the form in which the E-14 form, which will be used in those elections, was shown. With the approval of the National Electoral Council (CNE), the card will have much larger boxes and will have color photographs of the candidates to vote. These changes come after the registrar, Alexander Vega Rocha, said they wanted to avoid mistakes.

“The measures we have taken for the presidential elections will be that the E14 form will be much broader and the photos of the candidates will be included and the boxes will be larger,” Vega Rocha said. The registrar was in the midst of the controversy after errors were discovered in the elections that were brought forward last March. It was proved that several votes were not counted properly.

I don't feel defeated, I feel the winner that most parties don't accept my request; very good because the point of honor is consensus and if that request served to generate consensus, I think it is satisfactory for the electoral process (...) We will continue to work, I fully trust the decisions taken by the National Electoral Council, I believe in the scrutiny and the alternative that I had presented was to seek that tranquility,” the registrar said about the controversy.

The electoral card for the presidency of the country, then, will have eight presidential candidates in its overall image, the same ones who will be part of the first round of the elections that will be brought forward on May 29. In addition to the photographs of politicians, you will see the symbols and logos of each political party aspiring to head the state. The role of the cards will be environmentally friendly.

“All this so that when it comes to pre-counting it is easier for voting juries to capture the information and thus avoid errors in the marking of the boxes (...) The eight candidates for the Presidency of the Republic will have their photographs and logosymbols in color and the printing will be on ecological paper, this, in accordance with the environmental policy of the Registry Office,” said the entity,” said the Registrar.

Among the characteristics of the cards is the solution that was given about the appearance of the name of Federico Gutiérrez. The name of the candidate will not appear as' Fico ', as it is popularly known, however, that word will appear in the logosymbol.

For this voting day, more than 700,000 juries are expected to attend, who will help with the development of the process. Each of them will be chosen thanks to the classic draw and it will be ensured, in turn, that all the members of the voting stations are distributed in a heterogeneous manner, that is, that they have different political affiliations.

In order to avoid repeating what happened in March, the juries of 5,109 tables in which the errors that put the Registrar's Office in the midst of the controversy were made will be changed in full. These errors are the subject of investigation by the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation and the Attorney General's Office.

“We are reviewing with political campaigns in a concerted manner the figure of the asterisk or the figure of the script that in any case those spaces must be filled in order to avoid white spaces. We have agreed with the campaigns that what is agreed with the Registrar for the training of juries will have to be used that same language on social networks. It is not that the Registry Office gives one language and the campaigns in another,” said Vega Rocha.
