The candidate for the Historical Pact Gustavo Petro, triumphed through his official Twitter account a possible proposal if he were to occupy the Casa de Nariño for the next presidential term.
Petro mentioned the desire to change compulsory military service to digital literacy, that young people who have reached the age of 18 instead of submitting themselves to military action should prepare to be pedagogical agents: “I propose to replace compulsory military service with a digital literacy social service. Let young people who leave high school teach millions of people new digital technologies.”
The candidate of the Historical Pact also pointed to a desire to modify some classes seen in the last stage of high school of the country's students, he indicated that more digital components should be added to bring out young people who are better prepared for the challenges of the current economy and industry.
Petro said in his social network: “I propose to put as a subject of pensum in the last two years of high school, the development of computer programming. We would have 500,000 programming developers at the end of each year. If 100,000 continue the race, Colombia would be a world software power.”
While many users highlighted the pedagogical initiative and the positive impact that the proposal approved by the candidate of the Historical Pact would have on the country, other users pointed to the need for an army to combat the actions of criminal groups that commit crimes in different regions of the country.
The presidential candidate concluded by stating the need for different sectors to have greater knowledge and capacities in the digital environment in order to make greater progress to the current needs of the world: “We need the popular economy, the agrarian economy and the family in general to know how to use the new technological framework of the world”.
The official Twitter of the presidential candidate also confirmed the signing of an agreement that commits him along with Francia Márquez not to expropriate if he arrives at Casa de Nariño.
This was indicated by the 'retweeted' of the triune of Senator Gustavo Bolívar, which indicated: “ATTENTION Another farce falls. Today before a notary, at 11 AM, @petrogustavo pledges to the country and the world not to expropriate anything or anyone. He never thought about it, he never said it but he makes it clear to dismantle the slander on which the Duke II campaign rides.”
One of the constant points made to the candidate of the Historical Pact Gustavo Petro is the alleged risk of a government full of expropriations as is the case in Venezuela, this is not something new, the accusation has been said in almost every aspiration to the Casa de Nariño that Petro has had.
The Historic Pact candidate has had to come out numerous times to deny that in an eventual government he would take companies away from the private sector in exchange for compensation, an example of this was in 2018 when in the midst of the presidential race against the current president Duque, he signed Antanas Mockus and a sector of the party Green a document where he assured that he would not expropriate.
Now, together with his vice-presidential formula Francia Márquez, the leader of the Historical Pact will sign an agreement in which he pledges not to expropriate in the event that they win the presidential elections of May 29 in the first or second round. The commitment will be signed before noon with some members of the community at Notary 17 in Bogotá, located in race 10 #16 -22 Sur.
