Shortly before the session to discuss the Electricity Reform proposed by Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) began on Sunday, April 17 in San Lázaro, Andrés Pintos Caballero, who was serving as a deputy of the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM), submitted his resignation from the bench to join Movimiento Citizenship (MC) and vote against the energy initiative.

The event impacted the National Regeneration Movement (Morena) as it lost a vote that could work in favor of reform and make a difference to the parliamentary majority. In a letter addressed to Carlos Puente, coordinator of the Green Party, Pintos Caballero set out the arguments for what he changed parties a few minutes after the reform debate began.

He sent his letter dated Sunday, April 17 and in just two paragraphs he made clear the reason why Pintos Caballero left the green ecologist bench. As a representative of the state of Nuevo León, he pointed out that his main reason for making this decision was the idea of doing “more” for his federal entity.

He recalled the reason why he got involved in politics at a start and stated that his conviction is to be in a space where he can act for the inhabitants of the state governed by Samuel García.

“A few years ago, I decided to participate in politics to build on my causes. Until today I had the opportunity to influence and influence the issues that I am passionate about and that interest Nuevo León. But today I am at a crossroads and I have decided to be in a space where much more can be done for Nuevo León”, you can read in the first part of the letter.
